    Nearly one year after the closure of the old Tinsley library volunteers are being sought to help open a new service. 

    The Tinsley forum, which has issued books via a collection and drop-off point since the library's closure, is now set to provide a staffed check-out service.

    Around a dozen volunteers are needed, with plans also in place for a permanent branch with a full range of services. 

    Graham Whitfield is from the Tinsley Forum - he says the new library will be very welcome in Tinsley.

    Barnsley Council says it wants to crack down on bad landlords renting out shared houses.

    The authority says overcrowding is leading to poor conditions and anti-social behaviour.

    This morning, the council's cabinet agreed to draw up plans to focus on hotspots.

    Goldthorpe, Elsecar and parts of the city centre will be the first areas affected.    

    But one Barnsley landlord has expressed concern:

    More on the M1 incident that blocked both carriageways for a time. Northbound is now open, but southbound is still blocked. 

    It's happened between J38, A637 (Darton) and J37, A628 (Barnsley), we understand it's bacause of a trailor that's detached itself from it's towing vehicle.

    A Sheffield MP wants the government to reverse its decision to close the city's tax office and move 500 staff to Leeds. 

    Louise Haigh, the MP for Sheffield Heeley, is urging the government to think again after a report from the National Audit Office criticised the department's restructuring programme. 

    It called the plan "unrealistic" and said the cost of the move had gone up by nearly £600m in a year.

    Sheffield has won an award for being a safe place to have a night out.

    The city has retained the Purple Flag award which it first won in 2013.

    A 19-year-old man has died after his car crashed into a lamppost.

    The teenager was driving a yellow Jaguar X-Type which went into the street light at 05:50 today.

    The man died at the scene after the collision on Thorne Road.

    Proposals to turn a pub in Sheffield into a supermarket have been rejected.

    Councillors on Sheffield City Council turned down a plan for The Plough in Crosspool to become a Sainsbury's.

    The pub has been granted the status of an Asset of Community Value which could allow The Plough to be bought by locals.

    But local campaigners are hoping another pub chain will take it on.

    Police have released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to after an assault in Doncaster.

    A man was treated in hospital for serious facial injuries after being hit at Park Social Club in Balby on New Year's Eve.

    Anyone who can identify the man in the image is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101.

    Sheffield's highways contractor Amey were called out to more than 30 urgent incidents after strong winds hit the city.

    However, the firm says it is not aware of anyone being hurt in the storms.

    Amey say 23 of the call outs were fallen trees such as the one which blocked Penistone Road this morning.

    Figures seen by BBC Radio Sheffield show last month almost 200 people who were fit for discharge remained in hospital.  

    These so-called "bed blockers" are people who are medically fit to leave, but who can't because of delays in sorting out social care for many of them.
