    The parents of Vinnie Barker, the eight-year-old who died in 2012 after an optometrist failed to spot an eye condition which led to his death, say they're backing National Eye Health Week, external, to help raise the awareness of the importance of eye care "especially that of young children".

    Joanne Barker, Vinnie's mother, said: "We hope our son's case has in the least initiated a review of current working policies across opticians' practices with special attention to the aspect of retinal [imagery] and the accuracy of clinical record-keeping of patients."

    "We feel extremely strongly that it is hugely important to raise awareness of the health benefits and value of good optometry.

    "We now hold the magnitude of optometry higher than any other regular health checks we receive."

    Following on from the news we brought you earlier, about a jacket of Ed Sheeran's being removed from an auction website while its provenance was confirmed, St Elizabeth Hospice has been in touch to clarify the situation.

    Carl Day, retail commercial manager, said: "We have withdrawn the blue bomber jacket with Ed's name written on the back from eBay temporarily whilst we certify where and when it was worn by Ed.

    "We originally believed it to have been worn in the Bridget Jones' movie [Bridget Jones' Baby], however we are now unsure as to whether this is the case and have therefore withdrawn the item from the auction site whilst we verify this.

    "However, the shirt that Ed wore in the film, which can be seen in the trailer for the movie, is still available for you to bid on online and currently sits at £530.

    "All bidders have been contacted regarding the admin error and once our researchers have found when and where Ed wore his blue bomber jacket, the item will be re-added to the auction and fans can once again bid for the desirable item."

    "I train with Bart [Bialkowski] and Gerks [Dean Gerken] every day, so there's always something you can improve on, especially watching them in games. 

    "Bart at the minute is in excellent form and then Gerks, in training, is just as good.

    "I don't think many Championship clubs have two goalkeepers quite like it."

    An Ed Sheeran hand-me-down, described as worn by the singer in the new Bridget Jones movie (pictured), has been removed from an auction website, external, after doubts were raised as to its provenance.

    St Elizabeth Hospice say they can't be sure the jacket was actually worn in the film, as they initially believed.

    More than 20 people had bid for it, with the price reaching £1,000 just a couple of days after the auction had started. 

    The bidders have all been contacted about the withdrawal from sale, the charity said.

    A shirt he did wear in the film remains online.

    The east of England Euro MP Richard Howitt was given a standing ovation as he gave his final speech to the Labour party conference in Liverpool.

    After more than 22 years in the European Parliament, he's leaving politics for the world of business.

    Speaking to delegates, Mr Howitt said it had been "an enormous privilege to serve the party".

    The United States Air Force is due to leave RAF Mildenhall by 2023, and the Ministry of Defence says some of the base will be used for housing, but it will decide by 2018 if the rest is needed for military use.

    St Elizabeth Hospice says the online auction of Ed Sheeran's unwanted clothes, external is already attracting a huge amount of interest: "He's such a huge international star, bids are coming in from all over the world.

    "There's a jacket there that he wore in his cameo appearance in Bridget Jones's Baby, external - that's over £1,000 now, the bid, there's still eight days to go."

    Retail commercial manager Karl Day says they've got 20 items on the auction website at the moment, with more items to come.

    He added: "Things went live at nine o'clock on Saturday morning. I had a look at ten past, just to see what was going on and was absolutely staggered at the number of bids there were, and the amount of money that was accruing, even at that time."

    There was frenzied activity at the weekend as clothes donated by Ed Sheeran went on sale at the St Elizabeth Hospice shop, external in his native Framlingham.

    Manager Rachel Pollard said there was a queue outside before the shop opened: "It was fantastic, there was such a good buzz.

    "We had people that came throughout the day from all over the place - one poor father had to drive his daughter up from Kent."

    And if you're wondering what the most popular items were - according to Rachel, it  was his checked shirts, and she added that "most of the hoodies have gone".

    The ambulance service say they were called to Ellough Park Raceway, external near Beccles yesterday to reports that a man had been thrown from a go-kart.

    A rapid response vehicle, two ambulance crews, and the Essex Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

    They say they treated a man in his 60s who was unconscious and not breathing, but despite their best efforts, the patient died at the scene.
