    Ipswich Town, external boss Mick McCarthy doesn't believe his side is in a relegation battle, but accepts their form isn't good enough to be in the top half of the Championship table.

    Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Bristol City has left the Blues just five points above the bottom three, having failed to win successive games this season.

    "I've said to the lads we're scrapping to stay out of the bottom half of the table," said McCarthy. "That's where we are with our form.

    "With only 17 goals, seven defeats, six wins and six draws the form isn't good enough to have us in the top half so we have to change that. 

    "I think it's down to the final pass, those finer details, those subtleties in the final third."

    Needham Market, external have moved to within a point of leaders Havant & Waterlooville at the top of the Ryman Premier Division after Saturday's 2-1 win over Leatherhead.

    Police and ambulance crews joined firefighters at scene of what was described as a "significant" fire on Grimwade Street in Ipswich yesterday afternoon.

    Ian Mallett, from Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, said they worked on a "risk-based" approach, as the building, near the waterfront, was known to be a student accommodation block.

    He added: "Given the location, obviously police attend to assist with traffic control. 

    "The ambulance attend as well, given the numbers of students in attendance and they're also here for additional safety mechanisms for firefighter safety."

    Nearly 50 firefighters have spent several hours on the scene of a large fire which broke out on the second floor of student accommodation in Ipswich.

    Crews were called to Grimwade Street just before 16:00 on Sunday.

    Ian Mallet, from Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, described it as a "significant" fire, because of the number of students involved and the height of the fire.

    Speaking while the blaze was being tackled, he said: "We're currently checking the roof area for any spread into the roof void" and admitted that potentially they might have to rip off some of the roof.

    He added that they can do some examinations externally "Other than that, as and where it's required, we will peel and reveal and extinguish as is necessary".

    A block of student accommodation in Ipswich was evacuated last night, after a fire broke out. 

    At the height of the blaze, in Grimwade Street near the University of Suffolk, external campus, 10 appliances from across the county fought to bring the fire under control.
