Police chief 'confident' in team searching for missing Corrie Mckeaguepublished at 09:59 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2016
Suffolk's acting assistant chief constable has defended the team searching for missing serviceman Corrie Mckeague, after criticism from his mother.
Mr Mckeague's mother, Nicola Urquhart, said police had "utterly destroyed" her confidence that they will find her son, who went missing on a night out over 10 weeks ago.
Louisa Pepper, acting assistant chief constable, said: "He's been missing a number of weeks, so I can fully understand how the family must be feeling.
"However, let me reassure you, this investigation is a priority for Suffolk Police. We are using the similar sort of resources we would put into a murder investigation.
"We've put in search officers, we're utilising members of the RAF, we've got inquiry teams looking at it, so we are putting an inordinate amount of resources into finding him.
"I'm absolutely confident that my officers will do everything they can to find Corrie."
