    It's more than 10 weeks since Corrie Mckeague, a gunner from RAF Honington, disappeared after a night out in Bury St Edmunds with friends.

    His disappearance was first flagged up by police on Tuesday, 27 September the day after he'd been reported missing. 

    • 24 October - A driver reports seeing a man walking near the Hollow Road industrial estate in Bury on the day he disappeared 
    • 15 November - Part of the A14 near Bury St Edmunds is closed while police carry out a roadside search
    • 24 November - Police install a pod at the town's Christmas Fayre to show CCTV footage of people yet to be identified from the night Corrie disappeared
    • 5 December - His grandparents offer a "five-figure" reward for information leading to his discovery

    It finished 1-1 when the two teams met at Victory Road late last month, but last Tuesday's replay was called off due to Leiston being stuck in heavy traffic en route to Priory Lane.

    A family has described how an off-duty nurse carried out a life-saving procedure at a pub near Ipswich over the weekend, after one of their group started choking.

    Lynn Bell and her family were having lunch when Lynn's mum got into difficulties, after a piece of food got stuck in her windpipe: "We were all beginning to panic, and a young lady sitting on the next table just took over.

    "She said 'I'm a nurse, just leave it to me' and she got mum to stand up and did the Heimlich manoeuvre [illustrated] a couple of times with no effect, and then on the third occasion the piece of food was brought up and the situation was cured."

  6. Frequency for park and ride services is 'absolutely key'published at 13:07 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2016

    The leader of the Labour group on Suffolk County Council has criticised plans to scale back park and ride services in Ipswich saying: "Frequency is absolutely key.

    "If you don't have frequent buses running from the park and ride sites, nobody's going to use them."

    Councillor Sandy Martin, responding to proposals which will be discussed, external next week, continued: "We need a park and ride service which is attractive, which is getting better, which is encouraging more and more people to use it. 

    "This is a recipe for gradually running the whole service down."

    Former Mildenhall College of Technology schoolboy Tymal Mills will be part of the England T20 squad that plays India early next year.

    The 24-year-old, who plays his county cricket for Sussex, made his T20 debut for England against Sri Lanka in July.

    England play three ODIs and three T20s in India from 15 January to 1 February.  

    The school was formerly Mildenhall Upper School, and is currently Mildenhall College Academy, external.

  8. Plans to scale back park and ride services to be discussed next weekpublished at 12:15 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2016

    Plans to further scale back the park and ride services, external in Ipswich could be approved before Christmas.

    Suffolk County Council says it has historically paid over £700,000 per year for the service and is looking at a new operating model which would allow the service to continue without reliance on tax-payers' money.

    Papers have been published, external that will see it discuss another company taking over running the scheme from the current operator, Ipswich Buses.

    It's also being suggested that the frequency of buses is reduced, while ticket prices would be increased by about 20% from the current £2.50 or £3.00.

    The proposals will be discussed by the cabinet on 13 December.

    Oliver Mckeague, whose grandson Corrie has been missing since a night out in Bury St Edmunds at the end of September, says: "People don't just vanish, they leave or they get taken away."

    Mr Mckeague continued: "We think Corrie arranged to meet someone that night but we don’t know who, and then got into a car and disappeared. 

    "We know he didn’t just run away; he loved his life and the career direction he had chosen. 

    "He was so proud the day he passed out and joined 2 Squadron RAF Regiment three years ago, and so were we.”

    Corrie's grandparents Mr and Mrs Mckeague have offered a five-figure reward for information leading to their grandson's discovery and return.

    The 23-year-old, who was based at RAF Honington, has not been seen since he was filmed by CCTV cameras at the end of a night out in Bury St Edmunds at about 03:25 on Saturday, 24 September.

    Speaking to the press from a hotel just outside Mildenhall, Mary Mckeague said she believes his disappearance may involve a third party that he may have gone with.

    She said: "We’ve pledged this reward in hopes that it will motivate someone to come forward and help us find my beautiful grandson, Corrie, who went missing the day of his stepmother’s birthday. 

    "We’re heartbroken, but we’re not giving up. Corrie would expect us to stay strong.”

    Police say they took a "pragmatic" approach with the woman in her 80s who was filmed driving the wrong way down the A14 near Ipswich - leading to oncoming traffic having to perform last-minute swerves out of her path.

    Insp David Giles said: "The lady concerned has conceded that she mustn't ever drive again. 

    "She's surrendered her licence to us, DVLA medical forms have been completed, she won't be driving again.

    "I'm happy with how we've dealt with it. 

    "If she'd have gone to court she might have only got points and it wouldn't actually have resolved the situation. 

    "We’ve been able to resolve it permanently - thankfully no-one was hurt."

    Ipswich Town's under-23s were beaten 2-0 by Huddersfield Town under-23s in the Premier League Cup last night, with Brett Pitman playing the full 90 minutes for the Blues.

    It was the striker's first action since suffering an ankle injury at Leeds more than two months ago, and he could now be involved with the first team on Saturday against Cardiff.

    Fellow forward Leon Best also started last night's game along with midfielders Kevin Bru and Jonny Williams.

    Jack Boyle and Lewis O'Brien were both on target for the visitors.

    Ipswich Town will have arguably their best chance of a first win in an FA Cup match under Mick McCarthy when they take on National League side Lincoln City at Portman Road in the third round next month.

    Former Blues captain Mick Mills (pictured with the cup and 1978 Ipswich goal-scorer Roger Osborne) is calling on the manager to name as strong a first eleven as possible, and treat the competition with respect.

    "I'm very disappointed that clubs play weaker teams early on and cheapen this competition," Mills said. 

    "The importance of it tends to come back at the quarter final stage, but that's too late.

    "If Mick McCarthy was to change everybody then the team will still look good on paper, but it won't have played together much. 

    "So while you might get one or two individual performances, you won't necessarily get a team performance."

    A father has relived the moment his girlfriend and children were nearly hit head-on by a car being driven in the wrong direction on the A14 near Ipswich approaching the junction 58/Seven Hills interchange.

    Charlie Burton from Felixstowe, who was in a separate vehicle and captured the footage on his dash-cam, said: "It's the scariest thing I've seen ever."

    Once he realised no cars had been hit, Charlie said his next thought was that there were other families on the road: "I decided to take matters into my hand and block the road.

    "She [the driver of the oncoming car] stopped alongside me but she started to drive again... she'd actually done a u-turn and come off at the Martlesham A12 and the police picked her up on the Foxhall Road apparently."

    Police have told us the woman voluntarily surrendered her licence after the incident.

    Ipswich Town will play National League side Lincoln City in the third round of the FA Cup, which takes place 6-9 January.

    Former Blues captain Mick Mills (pictured with the cup in 1978, wearing the hat) has been giving us his thoughts.

    "You want a home tie, preferably against a team lower down the pyramid, but this one has gone too far," said Mills, who believes Lincoln will receive all the plaudits regardless of how Town perform.

    "What Lincoln have done already in the competition is very, very good. 

    "Beating Oldham last night was a fabulous result for them and they'll be very excited about this one."

    Former world number one Tine Baun came out of retirement last night and helped the Suffolk Saxons, external move to the top of the National Badminton League, external with a 3-2 win at home to Bristol Jets.

    The double European gold medal winner and three times All England champion impressively dispatched Kirby Ngan in the women's singles, winning the event in straight sets in just over 15 minutes.

    A calf injury sustained during the first set meant that Baun could not compete in the women's doubles event, which was won by the Saxons pairing of Fee Teng Liew and Sarah Walker.

    "The venue is very special to play in," Baun said of the Ipswich Corn Exchange. "I was sad that I couldn't play the doubles, but Fee and Sarah did so well."
