    The Saxons came from behind to beat Bristol Jets 3-2 at the Ipswich Corn Exchange on a night when women's badminton legend Tine Baun made her debut for the home side.

    The 37-year-old comfortably dispatched Kirby Ngan in straight sets before Bristol came back to win the mixed doubles and men's singles events.

    Parity was restored when Sarah Walker and Fee Teng Liew won their women's doubles rubber, and the Saxons men's pairing of Andy Ellis and Sean Vendy went on to win the decider.

    Ex-Ipswich Town, external player Jimmy Bullard says Blues fans need to get behind manager Mick McCarthy, rather than on his back.

    After Saturday's defeat to Bristol City callers to BBC Radio Suffolk's phone-in once again called for McCarthy's head.

    "There's always pressure on managers," said Bullard, who was at Needham Market at the weekend as manager of Leatherhead

    "Let him get on with it, you aren't going to get a lot better manager than Mick at the minute, so stick with him. 

    "He's a great manager, players want to play for him. 

    "You can change managers and nothing's ever guaranteed and he's been unlucky a few years on the hop. Get behind him and let him do his job."

    A pioneering scheme to tackle youth unemployment in Suffolk has helped 2,500 into work in the first two years of its life. 

    The MyGo, external service, which offers training and advice and liaises with local employers, has also provided coaching to a further 4,000 16-25 year olds in the county. It has branches in Ipswich, Lowestoft and Stowmarket. 

    This afternoon director Judith Mobbs told a committee of MPs that MyGo aimed to make the business of finding a job less daunting.

    "It's an age when you don't have a huge amount of confidence and that next step of getting a job can be quite intimidating and, if you're finding that hard, your confidence can be sapped" she said.

    One person who's been helped by MyGo, Hannah Foulstone, told MPs that some young people felt intimidated and let down by normal job centres. 

    Another, Martin Chester, said working with MyGo "has given people like me a big boost in our confidence"

    A motorist who filmed a "near-miss" on the A14 via his dash-cam has described the incident as "the single worst moment in my life".

    The footage was shot from a vehicle heading east on the dual carriageway near Ipswich.

    Charlie Burton's Facebook post says he was driving back in convoy with the rest of his family in another vehicle - a Civic Aerodeck - in front of him.

    We can see it swerving into a tiny gap to avoid a head-on collision.

    "They got an extra big cuddle when we got home," said Mr Burton.

    Police have told us the driver heading in the wrong direction has voluntarily surrendered their licence.

    The number of rough sleepers in Ipswich has nearly doubled from 15 last year, to 28 at the moment, according to the organisers of the Ipswich Winter Night Shelter, external.

    The town's Conservative MP Ben Gummer said: "It is not good, and it's something we've got to fix."

    Four of the county's district councils - Babergh, external, Mid Suffolk, external, Forest Heath and St Edmundsbury, external - are bidding for government funding for an outreach worker, and a new soup kitchen's opened in Lowestoft.

    It’ll be a cold start to Tuesday with the fog slow to clear and in parts of the region it could linger all day.

    Where the fog eventually lifts it’ll generally be cloudy with the chance of a few sunny intervals and highs of 8C (46F).

    Before we go, we'd like to share these photographs with you which were taken at the Brandon Christmas Fayre.

    The man who had the honour of switching on the lights on Sunday, was the very aptly named Lt Col "Chris" Christmas, a veteran soldier who's a sprightly 99-years-old and whose daughter Joan travelled from France especially for the occasion.

    We're told he was in a hurry to get home after the event "to look at photographs of the event on Facebook".

    We hope he sees this too.

    Former world number one Tine Baun will make her first appearance for Suffolk Saxons, external in the National Badminton League, external tonight.

    The 37-year-old replaces Julie Finne-Ipsen in the team for a fixture against the league's other new franchise, the Bristol Jets, external, at Ipswich Corn Exchange. 

    Victory for the Saxons would be their third in a row.

    Striker Brett Pitman (pictured left) is expected to make his first appearance for Ipswich Town, external in almost three months tonight.

    The 28-year-old, who hasn't played since suffering an ankle injury at Leeds in September, should start for the Under-23s at Huddersfield.

    Chains of office for the mayor of Southwold, the deputy mayor, and the mayor's consort, have been stolen from the Town Hall, external over the weekend.

    Describing the items as representing "hundreds of years of history", Mayor Melanie Tucker said: "The mayor's chain is a splendid item with discs on it that show the mayors names over the years - it is a formal ceremonial chain and something that is very precious to us.

    "We're all extremely upset and shocked to think the town hall hall has been violated by people who have broken in, who appear to know what they were looking for."

    The Marketmen are just a point off the top of the Ryman Premier Division after Saturday's 2-1 win over Jimmy Bullard's Leatherhead.

    "It's a marathon and not a sprint," said Morsley. 

    "It's a long season of 46 games and as long as my team is prepared to work hard, like they did against Leatherhead, then we've got more than enough quality in that dressing room to keep us ticking over nicely."

    Volunteers at a new soup kitchen, which has been set up in Lowestoft to help people in the town who are sleeping rough, say they're surprised at the number of people who've been turning up at the facility at the Bridge View centre, external.

    The two evening sessions a week, which are run by the Access Community Trust, external and the East Suffolk Foodbank, external, have been attended in total by about 50 people.

    One of those volunteers, Bob, says there are 28 people sleeping rough in Lowestoft alone:
