Det Insp Kevin Hayward, of the Major Investigation Team at Suffolk Police, said: "The investigation into the death of Jimoh Plunkett remains an open inquiry.

"We believe the answer to what happened lies within communities in the Metropolitan Police area, and would continue to ask anyone with information to come forward.

"Ten years on and allegiances may have changed and someone may feel they can now talk to police about the case.

"The information gathered during the course of the inquiry means it may be that even the smallest detail could assist with the progression of this - and we'd ask those there that night to think about whether they would now consider assisting to bring some answers for Jimoh's family."

  10. US air base attack plot: Appeal dismissed in uncle casepublished at 10:39 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2016

The judges at London's Criminal Appeal court also dismissed an appeal by Shazib Khan, 24, the uncle of Junead Khan, also of Marlow Avenue, Luton, against his sentence for a preparation for terrorism offence.

The pair had both planned, for almost an entire year over 2014 and 2015, to travel to Syria to live under the Islamic State regime.

They discussed their plans with ISIS members in Syria, prepared lists of items to take, and researched and ordered equipment.

The only reason they did not travel was because they had not saved up enough money or bought sufficient kit, Lord Thomas said.

Each received a seven-year term, with five years of extended licence, although Junead Khan's was to run concurrently to the sentence for the murder plot.

Dismissing Shazib Khan's application to appeal against that sentence, Lord Thomas said his complaints were unarguable.

  11. US air base attack plot: 'He did not carry his intention far'published at 10:31 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2016

"But the point was fairly made on this appeal that, in terms of steps actually taken, he did not carry his intention far."

He added: "In the circumstances, neither the gravity of his conduct, very serious as it was, nor the level of danger which it indicated, required the court to impose a life sentence of imprisonment."
