    ....there'll be just under a hundred teams taking part in the FA People's Cup finals this weekend hoping to book their trip to Wembley.

    Each of the winners in the 16 categories in the free five-a-side competition will win tickets to the FA Cup final on 27 May, where they will be presented with their trophies.

    You can catch up with what's been going on in the competition here - and you'll be able to follow live coverage from the finals in Birmingham on Sunday and Monday.

  2. Appeal to trace next of kinpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 28 April 2017

    An appeal has been made to help trace the next of kin of a man from Ipswich.

    Paul Backhouse, who resided at an address in Emmanuel Close, died on 17 April, at the age of 68. 

    There were no suspicious circumstances.

    Officers would like to trace anyone who may have known Mr Backhouse.

    It is believed he had links locally, in Portsmouth and overseas in America.

    Fire crews have attended a fire on an industrial estate in Hadleigh this morning.

    A fire in the roof of the Primo building broke out just before 10:00.

    An ambulance was also called to the site, where we understand the crew treated one person for burns to their hands, and one for smoke inhalation.

    This evening will be rather cloudy with some rain or drizzle. 

    Increased cloud cover will bring the risk of some showers overnight, but as skies clear later, temperatures will drop to 0C (32F), giving the risk of frost and icy patches.

    Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy says he wants to keeper defenders Christophe Berra and Luke Chambers (pictured) at Portman Road this summer.

    Both are out of contract, but Town have an option to extend their deals.

    McCarthy says: "Their options will be exercised and then we can deal with it afterwards." 

    Nottingham Forest were interested in Chambers in the January transfer window and it's rumoured Berra may be keen on a move back to his native Scotland.

    Ipswich Town defender Paul Digby - pictured in action with Gary Roberts of Portsmouth  - will be leaving the club when his contract expires this summer.

    Digby signed from Barnsley on a permanent deal in January 2016 but has struggled to break into the first team.

    Town manager Mick McCarthy says the 22-year-old needs to move on for the good of his career: "There's no point him traipsing around, sitting on the bench, sitting in the stand watching us. 

    "He needs to go and play some football."

  11. New CCTV appeal following Ancaster Road fatal stabbingpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 27 April 2017

    Police have issued further images of potential witnesses seen on CCTV and dash-cam footage as they renew their appeal for information following the murder of Dean Stansby in Ipswich earlier this year.

    All of those pictured were seen in the area of Ancaster Road/Gippeswyk Road/Gippeswyk Avenue and Ranelagh Road between 18:00 and 19:00 on Wednesday 8 February.

    Det Ch Insp Caroline Millar said it remains "important" they identify everyone who was out that evening.

    The National League Two South, external side has been searching for a replacement for Gavin Hogg, who is leaving at the end of the season.

    The 35-year-old has been appointed as the head coach of Hertfordshire team Old Albanians.

    Kyle Newman will finally make his Ipswich Witches, external debut in tonight's home meeting against Berwick Bandits.

    Newman's been sidelined since the opening week of the campaign when he suffered a serious shoulder injury while competing for Poole.

    "I can't wait, it's been a long month off," he told BBC Suffolk Sport. "I'm looking forward to joining up with the guys and getting started.

    "The injury isn't going to be 100% for a long time if I'm brutally honest, because muscles are a complicated thing, but I feel really comfortable on the bike and am keen for it now."

    Friends and family came to Wortham today to say goodbye to Billy Hines, who died with two friends in a car crash in Pulham Market earlier this month.

    Mourners were asked to wear a hint of orange - the 16-year-old's favourite colour.

    His coffin was brought to St Mary's church on the back of a Warren lorry - the haulage firm owned by the father of Kyle Warren, one of the other teenagers who died in the crash.

    The silence was broken by friends escorting his coffin on motocross bikes.

    Billy's family described him as a fun loving and caring boy, who was very hard working. His friends told me he was kind, funny and cheeky - and they still can't believe he's gone.

    A series of events are to be held across the Shotley Peninsula to mark the 50th anniversary of the death of children's author Arthur Ransome, external.

    Oliver Paul, chair of the Shotley Peninsula Tourism Action Group, external, said: "He was quite a colourful character, a little bohemian and eccentric. 

    "He wrote some wonderful children's stories and they're all about good clean honest fun and adventure, and that's what you can still do on Shotley. 

    "We want to have a year of drinking lashings of ginger beer and ship's biscuits."

    Arthur and his wife Evgenia moved to the area in 1935 and he moored his boats at Pin Mill, one of which was Nancy Blackett. 

    Whilst living here, Ransome wrote We Didn't Mean to Go to Sea, the story of a group of children sailing the Goblin (modelled on the Nancy Blackett) from Pin Mill and drifting out into the North Sea, eventually managing to sail to Holland. 

    Events, including a Swallows and Amazons themed camp and sailing event, and a literary festival, start next month, external.

    A Lowestoft woman, who received devastating injuries after she was the victim of an acid attack, says sentencing is too low.

    Adele Bellis was speaking after figures obtained by the BBC from 34 police forces in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, show the number of acid attacks has nearly tripled in four years, from 248 in 2012 to 724 last year.

    She said: "I think sentencing is too low... victims of acid attacks are scarred for life.

     "[Attackers] should be given a life sentence. 

    "My ex-boyfriend got a life sentence but my attacker is out this year.

    "I've still got no ear, half a head bald, and I'm scarred and still having treatment for the next four years.

    "That’s not justice."

    Katherine Jenkins, the Jesus and Mary Chain and Leon Bridges are among the latest acts to be announced for the Latitude Festival.

    Jenkins will be performing on the Waterfront Stage at the event, which takes place at Henham Park on 13-17 July.

    The newly-announced acts also feature While the World Sleeps, external, a new project from former Keane member Jesse Quin - who lives in the county.

    The announcement also comes with the promise of further news tomorrow - when a "previous festival headliner" will be revealed as a special guest.

    This will possibly be for the opening slot of the main stage on the Sunday - an honour previously given to the likes of Thom Yorke, Joanna Newsom and Tom Jones.
