    It's been revealed the Suffolk stage of the Tour of Britain will go from Newmarket to Aldeburgh.

    Here's a quick look at the route map.

    We'll bring you more on that in just a moment but first, let's take a look at the weather.

    The team here is heading off for an overnight break, but rest assured, we'll be back bright and early in the morning.

    It's been an exciting day for the county, with news of the Tour of Britain, external's Stage 6 starting in west Suffolk and finishing on the coast on 8 September.

    Today has also been the day when it was announced alleged computer hacker Lauri Love, from Stradishall, has been granted permission to appeal against his extradition to the US.

    And it shouldn't be much longer before a well-known landmark disappears from the skyline at Sproughton, as the local council considers ways the former sugar beet silos can be demolished.

  4. Stage 6 of Tour of Britain to start in Newmarket and end in Aldeburghpublished at 18:01 British Summer Time 25 April 2017

    The organisers of this year's Tour of Britain, external have released details of the route to be taken in Stage 6 of the race, which takes place on Friday, 8 September.

    The county has hosted starts and finishes of the event on four occasions since 2010, but this year's cross-county route, which starts in Newmarket, and finishes in Aldeburgh, will be a first for Suffolk.

    Give yourself a gold star if you've spotted a slight foray after the departure into Fordham in neighbouring Cambridgeshire.

    Sunshine and scattered wintry showers end the day across the BBC East region and they will continue to feed down the North Sea, some heavy with hail and sleet snow possible.  

    Some areas may have a dusting of snow first thing tomorrow and there could be some issues with ice during the early hours.  

    There will be a widespread frost with temperatures dipping -1C (30F)

    Wednesday will be another cold day with sunny spells and scattered showers, some wintry, but the temperature could get up to 8C (46F).

    A photograph of a barley field leading to farm buildings at Easton Bavants, near Southwold, has won the first ever Suffolk Beauty photographic competition, external.

    Judges from the Suffolk Preservation Society, external, who ran the competition, said they awarded Juliet Blaxland's photograph first prize on the basis of "the way the atmospheric Suffolk sky had been captured and the linear placement of the historic farm buildings in context". 

    Juliet received her trophy at an event on Monday.

  8. Council issues warning over Pakefield beachpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 25 April 2017

    A concrete slab near the rifle range has slipped down the cliff, and the council says it's in a position where it could descend further.

    Members of the public are advised not to walk too close to the base of the cliffs.

    A man facing charges over a high speed police chase from Ipswich to Felixstowe, has denied a number of offences.

    The incident happened on Sunday morning after a patrol car tried to stop a black Vauxhall Corsa reported to have been driving at 100mph (160km/h).

    The 24-year-old, of no fixed address, has been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, failure to supply a breath specimen, assault and criminal damage to a police cell.

    He's been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on 23 May.

  10. Decision on Snoasis 'must be made' this summerpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 25 April 2017

    The saga of the attempt to create an artificial snow dome in Suffolk continues...

    Mid-Suffolk District Council says an extension has been agreed until 31 August for an application for Snoasis, to allow a full five-week public consultation to take place after final details of the plans are received.

    These final details for the £300m snow sports centre at Great Blakenham - known as "outstanding deliverables" - have to be submitted to the council in early May, and a decision made by the end of August.

    In November 2016, developer Godfrey Spanner said the development "will become a reality", and that he hopes it will open in 2020.

  11. Three judges will hear appeal against alleged hacker's extraditionpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 25 April 2017

    The lawyer for alleged computer hacker Lauri Love, who lives in Stradishall, says they were "certainly hopeful" he would be granted leave by the UK courts to appeal against his extradition to the United States.

    Speaking on the day it was revealed that permission has been granted for a High Court hearing, Karen Todner said: "The High Court has stated there are significant legal grounds to be considered in this case.

    "It's going to be for a divisional court, which is a full court of three judges, to consider the issues, so they're clearly taking it very seriously."

    Mr Love, who's 32, is accused of stealing data from a range of high-level agencies in the US.

    Kyle Warren's head teacher, Richard Cranmer, says today's funeral service for the 17-year-old was "extremely touching, very moving and very appropriate for the occasion" and summed up memories of Kyle well.

    The teenager was killed alongside two friends, when the car they were travelling in went off the road near Pulham Market and collided with a tree.

    Mr Cranmer said it's been a very difficult time for students and staff at the Archbishop Sancroft High School.

    Ahead of kick-off, the skipper has praised the Irishman's role in the Wolfpack's impressive rise through the divisions during recent years. 

    "He does sit in the background a lot, but he's also one of those coaches that will always put you in your place when you need it," said Collins. 

    "He's always been a mentor rather than someone who yells down your throat to get things done."

    Hundreds of people packed the streets of Harleston this morning to remember Kyle Warren. 

    The 17-year-old was one of three teenagers who were killed when their car came off the road near Pulham Market nearly three weeks ago.

    Kyle died alongside two of his friends - 18-year-old Dominic O'Neill, from Pulham Market, and Billy Hines, 16, from Wortham in Suffolk.

    Billy's funeral is this Thursday, at Wortham church. A funeral service for Dominic will be held at Pulham Market church next Tuesday afternoon.

    Australian Dan Collins will play his final match for Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, external this weekend, before returning to his home country.

    Collins, who plays at hooker, has captained the Wolfpack this season, leading them to safety in National League Two South. 

    "I've had a great time here and my rugby has progressed," Collins told us. 

    "It's one of those community clubs that is still performing at a higher level, and everybody loves their rugby here."

    Wildlife experts in Suffolk say there's been an increase in the number of dead badgers found on our roads this spring.

    Last month 37 carcasses were found, compared to the usual number of about 25.

    Adam Hinchliffe, co-ordinator of the Suffolk Badger Group, external, thinks it's mainly down to mating habits and perhaps a rise in the overall badger population.

    He says incidents where foul play has been involved seem to be fairly rare: "If it's safe to do so, our group of volunteers which actually try and check these badgers, to make sure they're actually dead.

    "We have had ones that were unconscious, but we also check to make sure nothing untoward, such as snares or evidence they're shot or poisoned, but we don't think there are many that have been reported to the police."

    Former Ipswich Town defender Richard Naylor says he can see why people are excited about the potential of Andre Dozzell, but believes there are certain things he needs to work on.

    The 17-year-old England youth international made his first start since January in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Rotherham

    "He showed glimpses of what he can do, but physically he's got to be able to cope with things at this level," Naylor told us. "He looked a little bit lightweight at times.

    "He needs to work out how to use his body. You don't need to be massive, but you need to use what you've got a little better and he just got pushed aside a little bit."

    Proposals for the demolition of the silos at the former sugar beet factory in Sproughton (next to the A14) have been submitted, external to Babergh District Council who we're told are currently considering the method of demolition to be used.

    A masterplan for the redevelopment of the site itself was approved, external by Ipswich Borough Council in February.
