    After a chilly start, it will be a mainly dry morning with sunny spells. 

    Showers will develop later with some of these becoming heavy and perhaps locally turning to sleet or hail with a risk of thunder. 

    It will feel cold in strengthening northerly winds, with a top temperature of 10C (50F).

    Staying breezy overnight with showers, occasionally heavy and wintry, throughout. 

    It will be a cold night with a frost likely, especially in rural spots such as Haverhill - lows of 1C (34F).

    Thanks for joining us.

    We're very excited at news that the world's top male cyclists will be in the county this summer, as Suffolk hosts a full stage of the Tour of Britain, external race.

    We'll bring you reaction to the news as we get it, but you'll have to wait for details of the route, as they're not being released until 18:00.

    We're also hoping someone might have a photograph of the herd of cows that caused disruption for drivers on the A14 around Claydon last night - if you have we'd love to see it, you can send anything you've got via the "Get involved" link on this page.

    If you haven't ventured out of doors yet I'll warn you, it's a chilly one out there - I had a look for some evidence of snow from our BBC Weather Watchers, but so far, this one, taken in Reydon near Southwold, is the only one I've been able to find.

    We'll be keeping an eye on the weather during the day, so if you've got any photos you'd like to share with us, we'd love to see them too.

    London Marathon: Guinness World Record for tumble dryer runner

    A roofer from Suffolk ran his way into the record books by completing the London Marathon with a tumble dryer on his back.

    Ben Blowes, 44, from Newmarket, ran the capital course chasing a Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon carrying a household appliance.

    He crossed the line in a record-breaking time of five hours, 58 minutes and 37 seconds - Mr Blowes had to do it in less than six hours to get the record.

    Mr Blowes raised money for Racing Welfare, a charity that supports the workforce of the British horseracing and thoroughbred breeding industry.

    He said he was "elated" with his achievement and his tumble dryer was "last seen on a skip somewhere along the Mall".

    I'm afraid it could be true...

    Cloud and patchy rain will clear this evening, leaving much of the night dry and clear. Showers will spread from the east, which could be accompanied by hail and sleet.

    Becoming cold with a risk of frost as temperatures fall to -2C (28F), perhaps limited somewhat by the strength of the north-westerly wind.

    It will be a cold start to Tuesday but with some good spells of sunshine. Any early showers will develop through the day with sleet, hail and local thunder possible.

    Feeling cold in the north-westerly wind, with temperatures reaching highs of 11C (52F).

    An artist is making glass sculptures of endangered butterflies, to illustrate how fragile their existence is. 

    Laura Hart, whose studio is in Cavendish near Sudbury, says the fragility of the sculptures mimics their real-life inspiration.

    "If you drop it, that's it. It's gone, just like the species."

    A woman has been taken to hospital after being hit by a level crossing barrier in Woodbridge.

    The woman, who's believed to be in her 70s, suffered a head wound after being struck at the crossing off Quayside.

    The ambulance service treated her at the scene and she was taken to Ipswich Hospital for further care.

    Ipswich Witches' injury curse struck again yesterday, with guest Josh Bates crashing out of his side's 52-38 defeat at Newcastle Diamonds with a suspected hand injury.

    The Suffolk side have already lost Kyle Newman and Nico Covatti for spells this season.

    Promoter Chris Louis (pictured) told the club website: "We have got a lot of work to do to work out the way forward and we are doing that right now. 

    "We have a strong side on paper but as yet we have not seen that side, and it doesn’t necessarily look like we are going to get to see that side.

    "I still have every faith that we will come out of the end of this troublesome week or two and be as strong as we intended to be. There is no panic in this camp."

    A man has been charged with five offences, following a police pursuit between Ipswich and Felixstowe on Sunday.

    The 24-year-old has been charged with:

    • Dangerous driving
    • Failing to stop for police
    • Failure to supply a breath specimen
    • Criminal damage to a police cell

    He has also been charged with an assault which took place in Ipswich yesterday.

    Police say the man, of no fixed abode, has been remanded to appear before magistrates in the town tomorrow.

    A second man, arrested on suspicion of obstructing police, has been released and will face no further action.

  17. Witnesses sought after crash on B1113 at Baylhampublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 24 April 2017

    A motorcyclist received a possibly life-changing leg injury in a collision with a car on the B1113 at the junction with Mill Lane, Baylham, yesterday afternoon.

    The green Kawasaki motorcycle and the light blue/silver coloured Peugeot 206 were both travelling from Great Blakenham towards Needham Market when the crash happened, police say.

    The road was closed for four hours after the incdient, which happened at about 13:00.

    Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision.

    Firefighters were called to a large fire on Ministry of Defence property near Woodbridge last night. 

    Crews were on the scene, at Rock Barracks, for six hours from about 21:45.

    Around 1,000 sq m (10,763 sq ft)  of undergrowth was on fire there.
