    A crowdfunding page for the family of York girl Katie Rough has obviously touched people's hearts as it has now surpassed £14,500.

    The fundraising bid was set up by York mum Maggie Jackson who says she wanted to help Katie's family as they deal with the seven-year-old's death. 

    Katie died on Monday after being found with serious injuries in Woodthorpe. 

    A 15-year-old girl who's charged with her murder is due to appear at Leeds Crown Court on Friday after being remanded to secure accommodation yesterday.  

    Earlier this morning, the amount raised on the GoFundMe page stood at about £8,500, but that sum has now almost doubled in the past few hours.

    The A59 Roman Road in Moor Monkton, Harrogate, is currently partially blocked near the Marston Lane junction.

    It's due to an accident involving a bus and another vehicle.

    Striker Richard Brodie has left York City by mutual consent after a period of being out of favour with City manager Gary Mills.

    Brodie, 29, scored seven goals in 19 appearances in his second spell with the club this season and had only recently returned from a loan stint at Macclesfield Town.  

    The big frontman only rejoined the Minstermen last summer on a one-year contract.

    His first spell at City saw Brodie become a firm fans' favourite, scoring 69 goals in 165 games, before he left to join Crawley Town in August 2010.

    The Met Office has issued a weather warning for Yorkshire, external and much of the UK.

    Snow and high winds could pose problems for thousands of homeowners and commuters.  

    The yellow "be aware" warning comes after thousands of homes were left without power in northeast England and Yorkshire yesterday because of the high winds. 

    The extreme weather has been attributed to a "polar maritime airmass" which has made its way across the Atlantic, bringing snow, ice, rain and freezing temperatures.

    Should the rules that govern what can and what can't happen on Harrogate Stray be changed?

    The Stray isn't just governed by rules but by an Act of Parliament - the Harrogate Stray Act of 1985 guards what can happen on the 200 acres of open parkland in the centre of the town. 

    It limits the number of days per year that events can be held to 35.

    However, positive feedback from events such as the Tour de France, Great Yorkshire Run and Harrogate Christmas Market has led the council to consult on the possibility of applying to Parliament to modernise the Stray Act, external to increase the variety, frequency and size of events permitted.

    Celebrations to mark the re-opening of Tadcaster Bridge have been pushed back to the middle of February. 

    A ceremony had been arranged at the end of this month to coincide with the planned re-opening on 27 January.

    However, with a poor weather forecast it's looking unlikely that rebuilding work will be completed on time.

    A tractor which was stolen from a farm in Thornton-le-Dale earlier this week has been used to cause "substantial" damage to nearby farmland, police say.

    The vehicle, a blue New Holland tractor, was stolen from a farm building on Thornton Lane, external between 18:00 on Tuesday 10 January and 08:00 on Wednesday 11 January.

    Anyone with information about the theft or the subsequent damage caused is being asked to contact police.

    In particular, officers are appealing for information about any suspicious vehicles which people may have been seen in the area between those two times.

    On the rails, there are currently no major delays on trains into and out of York Station, external.

    On the roads, stop/go boards are still in operation on Blossom Street (A1036) in York.

    Yorkersgate (B1248) in Malton is currently closed in both directions between Horsemarket Road and Wheelgate. 

    There'll be roadworks in off-peak periods at Barlby (A19) which may cause delays near the junction with Market Weighton Road (A163).    

    And Bridge Street (A659) in Tadcaster is still closed in both directions due to repair work on the bridge.
