    A life-size bronze statue has been unveiled in the Highlands to honour the golden retriever.

    The breed was created at Tomich near Glen Affric in the 1800s by landowner Dudley Marjoribanks, also known as Lord Tweedmouth.

    A group called Friends of Guisachan has had the statue made and erected.

    St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright has been handed a new three-year deal, the club have announced.

    The 50-year-old has been in charge of the Perth side since June 2013 and steered them to success in last season's Scottish Cup final.

    A schoolgirl has been praised for helping rescue a man who was trapped under a van in West Lothian.

    Hannah Nolan, 13, came to the rescue after hearing the man shouting for help on Saturday in Glenalmond, Whitburn.

    She left the injured man with a phone while she went to try and find others to help, before returning to the scene to wait for the emergency services to arrive.

    David Lockhart, of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, said: "We can't praise the passing teenager enough for her actions."

    Aston Villa winger Alexander Tonev is in Glasgow having a medical with a view to joining Celtic.

    September's independence referendum will attract an 80% turnout, according to Alex Salmond.

    The first minister - a former racing tipster - made the prediction while in conversation with historian Tom Devine at the Edinburgh Book Festival, external.

    He said: "I think the best bet of this referendum is a bet on an 80% poll. If you can get odds on an 80% poll, you bet it."

    During the wide-ranging interview, Mr Salmond also spoke about the collapse of RBS and recalled how his father wanted to hang former prime minister Sir Winston Churchill.

    Drivers are facing delays in Edinburgh's Princess Street after it was closed up to Shandwick place. The road is now open again but it is very congested with traffic.

    The A835 is still closed from Ullapool to the A832 junction which will affect drivers heading to the Stornoway ferry.

    Elsewhere, the A73 is partially blocked at the M80 Junction 5 after a lorry shed its load at the roundabout.

    The level of food poverty in Scotland is "simply not acceptable", Nicola Sturgeon has said.

    The deputy first minister announced £518,000 in funding aimed at tackling food poverty for 26 projects across Scotland.
