Are Scotland's speeding drivers being unfairly targeted?

Lawrence from Kilmarnock: "As a bus driver I fully support the police in their campaign. All too often I see blatant disregard of all manner of speed limits; but cases must be individually examined."

Raymie from the Isle of Bute: "Police Scotland have been targeting a wee place in rural Argyll called Colintraive for weeks now. The road only leads to the village or the ferry. What a waste of resources. Clearly just there to make money...would love Police Scotland to justify it on your show."

Dennis Grattan in Aberdeen: "The Scottish motorist does get hammered by the police and traffic wardens alike as they use motorists to achieve personal performance targets set by there supervisors. However in fairness to the police they have serious concerns regarding the carnage on our roads and therefore rightly target areas where excessive speed is a known killer."

Ellen Hudson, associate director of the Royal College of Nursing in Scotland, said high occupancy rates in hospital wards were a real concern. She said the figures in the BBC story reflected her members' experience.

She told Good Morning Scotland: "It is really not good for patient care, especially if you have got older patients who have maybe got dementia. They can get really disorientated and very distressed. They are coming into hospital and they are unwell. They need to be cared for in the right way, with staff with the right skills to deal with their condition.

"If they are moved to other wards outwith their specialist area then it makes it very difficult, for example, when medical colleagues are doing their ward rounds to actually see their patients, and also the logistics of it in terms of keeping the wards safe and clean and that rapid turnover of beds as people are moving in and out.

"It is not good for patients and it is certainly not good for staff."

Parts of Moray have been badly affected by flooding this morning as a result of heavy rain overnight.

In Elgin, Police Scotland say that the A96 has been re-opened through the town centre where a diversion had been in place but other areas are still affected.

An amber "be prepared" weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for the area and 12 flood alerts have been issued.

Stephen Cooper, head of direct services with Moray Council, said: "At the moment there is widespread flooding. It is localised but it is widespread through Moray. We have had engineers out all night working on the situation and giving out sandbags.

"We are now going to set up some local distribution areas to give out sandbags to local residents."

Health Secretary Alex Neil said some of the figures in the BBC story on hospital ward occupancy rates "were not true".

He said: "For example, the BBC is claiming an occupancy rate in Inverclyde of 133%. According to Greater Glasgow and Clyde, that is absolutely not true and is 35% more than the maximum occupancy rate in that hospital during the period covered.

"If there had been 133% occupancy rate that would have meant, at midnight, when these things are calculated, there would have been 33 people sitting on chairs and trolleys. Now that just never happens."

The BBC story says: "Health boards are allowed to include temporary or 'borrowed' beds within the total available beds for any given month - meaning a hospital's bed occupancy rate will never be higher than 100%.

"In actual fact, the patients in these beds are in the wrong ward and may not be getting the best treatment.

BBC Scotland has therefore excluded any 'borrowed' or temporary beds in its calculations.

Heavy rain has caused disruption on the trains this morning. Trains between Elgin and Huntly have been cancelled due to flooding with a replacement bus service operating.

Flooding at Kingussie is causing delays of up to 30 minutes to trains between Perth and Inverness. There is no firm estimate of how long disruption will last but it is likely to continue until at least 09:30.

There's also a lot of surface water on the roads which is causing congestion on the M90 at Junction 3. The A9 Dornoch Bridge is also closed to high-sided vehicles.

Cal Mac ferries services have also been affected with the 13:30 sailing from Berneray and the 14:45 from Leverburgh both cancelled.
