It's a momentous victory not just for the Warrington teenager, but for darts as a whole, as at the age of 17 he becomes the youngest ever world champion in the history of the sport.

But who is Luke Littler? Here are five facts about him you may not already know.

He's a record-breaker

At 17, Luke is the youngest person to ever lift the World Championship trophy.

And his first World Championship was only last year, when he was just 16 years old.

Luke had to use immense focus to score against a loud crowd at Alexandra Palace

He made his debut in 2024 to chants of "you've got school in the morning" from the crowd, but came second after a slip up in the final against fellow English player Luke Humphries.

However, he came back with a vengeance, winning 10 titles in 2024 before storming back onto the stage at Alexandra Palace and becoming champion of the world.

He started in his nappies

Luke's career started early - he won his first title at senior level when he was just 14, at the Irish Open in 2021

But in fact, it started far earlier than that.

He's had a dart in his hands since he was 18-months-old, playing on a magnetic board in his living room.

Littler told the Guardian newspaper in 2024: "I told everyone I was actually in nappies when I started playing. I'm not sure they believed me"

His parents then uploaded footage to YouTube which helped him prove how young he was when he started in the sport.

He's from Warrington

Lots of people came out to support him at his local club, the St Helen's Darts Academy

Luke was born in the little Cheshire town of Runcorn in 2007, but moved to Warrington when he was six.

His favourite takeaway in the area is called Hot Spot, which now has a wrap named after him for other customers to enjoy.

He's a Manchester United fan

While he supports his local rugby team Warrington Wolves, when it comes to football, Luke is a huge Man Utd supporter.

He even got the opportunity to meet United legend Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford about a week after his first World Championship final in 2024.

He said it was a big moment for him, who started supporting the team two years before Fergie left in 2013.

But Luke said it was even more thrilling for his dad, who has supported Man Utd all his life and watched them win the treble (winning three titles in one season) in 1999.

He's a gamer

In his down time, Luke likes to relax by playing video games.

He's a particular fan of the football simulator EA Sports FC. He enjoys playing the Pro Clubs feature, where individual players control one player on a team.

Luke and his girlfriend have occasionally live-streamed themselves playing the game.
