  1. Mahomes v Lamar - MVPs do battlepublished at 20:01 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

This mouth-watering match-up is the first time Patrick Mahomes has faced Lamar Jackson in the play-offs - with the Chiefs quarterback 3-1 in regular season meetings.

This is the fifth Conference Championship game between two MVP quarterbacks, and the first where both are aged under 30, so we could well see this one again.

Jackson has the athletic ability, and likely to win a second MVP this season, but Mahomes has the Super Bowl rings and until Lamar gets to the big game he'll always have the question marks hanging over him.

Will tonight finally be his night? Let us know who you think is the better QB? Thumbs up for Jackson, down for Mahomes.

  2. Mahomes climbing wins listpublished at 20:01 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Patrick Mahomes can go level with Terry Bradshaw, John Elway and Peyton Manning in joint third on the list of play-off wins for quarterbacks in NFL history if he can win tonight.

Still some way behind Tom Brady's unbelievable record though...

I think this is setting up for a Chiefs-Lions Super Bowl.

I like the experienced quarterbacks in each game - Patrick Mahomes over Lamar Jackson and Jared Goff, who has already played in a Super Bowl game, seeing off the 49ers.

Former Buffalo Bills coach Phoebe Schecter on what Andy Reid has established at the Kansas City Chiefs:

"Everybody is craving a head coach-quarterback match-up and the Chiefs set that. The culture is the foundation of the house and that is what has helped them, even when times get tough.

"They know how to peak at the right time of the year, which is the post-season."

  5. Defence wins championships?published at 19:59 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs @ Baltimore Ravens (20:00 GMT)

Baltimore's defence was historically good this season - becoming the first team in NFL history to lead the league in scoring defence, sacks and takeaways.

    That's some effort.

The Chiefs were pretty good on that side of the ball too though, as they came second behind the Ravens in giving up just 17.3 points a game, compared to Baltimore's 16.5.

There could well be plenty of points tonight, but at some point one of these defences will make all the difference.

Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings quaterback, on Sky Sports: "When you put it all together – being so talented in all three phases, being so well coached, being the number one seed and being at home – the Ravens are primed for this to be an incredible run."

It's been a strange season for Andy Reid's men.

The Kansas City Chiefs lost three of four games in December to miss out on the top seed in the AFC for the first time in six years.

Unlike in previous years, their offence has toiled and their appearance in the play-offs is arguably down to a huge improvement on defence.

And yet, Mahomes, Travis Kelce and co have turned up in the play-offs, taking down AFC East giants Miami Dolphins (26-7) and Buffalo Bills (27-24).

As is their wont, they seem to be coming into form at just the right time.

It has been an outstanding season for the Baltimore Ravens who claimed the top seed in the AFC with an unmatched 13-4 record.

Powered by the arm (and legs) of Lamar Jackson and the one of the most resolute defences in the entire NFL, John Harbaugh's side have been a juggernaut from the beginning.

Last week they put outstanding rookie CJ Stroud in his place when they steam-rollered the Houston Texans 34-10 in the Divisional Round of the play-offs.

They are eyeing a first Super Bowl appearance since 2012.

John Harbaugh worked for Andy Reid in Philadelphia, so these two know each other pretty well.

Harbaugh is looking to reach his second Super Bowl, while Reid will appear in his fifth if the Chiefs can win tonight.

For five straight years, the Kansas City Chiefs have not only contested the AFC Championship game but hosted it, going 3-2 in that spell with both their defeats coming in overtime - to the Patriots and Bengals.

Of course, they are it again this year - only this time, they are on enemy territory.

Shorn of their number one seed, it's not the familiar surroundings of Arrowhead Stadium, but a vociferous M&T Bank Stadium.

And it's the Baltimore Ravens who are the favourites.

And later on it's off to San Francisco where the Detroit Lions will hope to spring another big shock by booking their first ever Super Bowl appearance.
