Summary

  1. 'Chiefs dominant'published at 21:40 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

HT Kansas City Chiefs 17–7 Baltimore Ravens

    Greg Brady
NFL pundit on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Chiefs were dominant on offense in that half. The Ravens made a play or two but so far Jackson has not been up to the standards he’s set so far this season.

Patrick Mahomes has played Tom Brady, Josh Allen and Joe Burrow in the play-offs and Jackson has not been up to their standards yet. He needs to figure it out fast.

This is Kansas City’s game to lose given they have a 10-point lead and will get the ball back to start the second half.

  2. Kelce on Kelcepublished at 21:38 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

    Ah there he is.

Covered up this week. Perhaps Jason Kelce only takes his shirt off when it's minus temperatures.

Positively mild so far in Baltimore compared to last Sunday in Buffalo.

  3. HT - Chiefs leadpublished at 21:36 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs 17-7 Baltimore Ravens

Kansas City take a deserve lead into the break, but it should really have been more given how they've dominated the ball and territory in that first half.

A couple of penalties cost them the chance of a late touchdown while an earlier field goal was spurned when the were stuffed on a short fourth down run.

Will they regret those later on?

Last week the Ravens went in tied at 10-10 at half-time against Houston, and came out to score touchdowns on their first three possessions of the second half to blow the Texans away.

  4. field goal

Field goal - Chiefspublished at 21:33 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs 17-7 Baltimore Ravens

Travis Kelce catches a short pass that's enough to give Harrison Butker a 52-yard field goal attempt - which he nails as one of the better kickers in the league.

Eight in a row from 50-plus yards now for Butker.

  5. 'So upset'published at 21:32 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs 14–7 Baltimore Ravens

Former Tennessee Titans cornerback Jason McCourty on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

"Chiefs fans are going to be so upset.

"You can see what Trey Smith is trying to do there but you can’t grab your opponent and throw him down.

"It’s another penalty and it takes away a beautiful catch and run by Rashee Rice.

  6. Flag costs a touchdown!published at 21:31 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs 14-7 Baltimore Ravens

Rashee Rice takes a screen pass and races away into the end zone!

But this one is coming back for another holding flag against the Chiefs, which not only cost them a touchdown but also pushes them out of field goal range! Huge penalties.

  7. More flags!published at 21:29 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs 14-7 Baltimore Ravens

Patrick Mahomes runs for the first down, but there's a gold in the backfield by the Chiefs and that costs them 10 yards and more than likely any chance of scoring a TD as they face third and 14.

  8. 'Kelce knows what he's doing'published at 21:28 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs 14–7 Baltimore Ravens

Former New England Patriots cornerback Devin McCourty on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra:

“I’ve played against Travis Kelce and he’s winding them up but he is always in the zone, always controlled and knows exactly what he’s doing.

“The Ravens need to worry about stopping him rather than arguing with him.”

No sign of Jason Kelce and his chest hair yet here in Baltimore but the cameras are as ever still trained on his brother's girlfriend.

Taylor must be very happy with how her record-breaking partner has gone about business so far this evening.

  10. Kelce again!published at 21:26 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs 14-7 Baltimore Ravens

We've seen this movie before, but Travis Kelce continues to find space and this time he takes a 21-yard laser from Patrick Mahomes to move the Chiefs just about into field goal range.

  11. Another flagpublished at 21:24 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs 14-7 Baltimore Ravens

"Roughing the passer" gets Kansas City another 15 yards and there's no doubt about this one as Patrick Mahomes takes a clothesline to the face.

  12. Flagpublished at 21:23 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs 14-7 Baltimore Ravens

Huge flag on the play in a bit of afters following the first play of the drive, as Kyle Van Noy barges Travis Kelce and the refs don't like that one bit.

That's 15 yards for the Chiefs who have just over a minute left in the half to try and get some points against this top defence.

  13. 'This could get away from you real quick'published at 21:20 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs 14-7 Baltimore Ravens

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo on CBS: "When the Chiefs get the ball back, if they score on you here this game could get away from you real quick."

  14. Ravens puntpublished at 21:18 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs 14-7 Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson misses his target with both a long heave downfield and a short pass trying to convert on third down.

Baltimore have to punt with Jackson still only completing five passes so far...and one of those to himself!

  15. 'Ravens will be disappointed'published at 21:17 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs 14–7 Baltimore Ravens

    Greg Brady
NFL pundit on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

If you lay all the stats out, the Ravens will have to be disappointed by their production but they can’t complain about being behind. They will be thankful to only be down a touchdown – and they have the football in a good position going towards the half.

If they can't get it done in these next two minutes though, they will need to readjust after half-time.

  16. Two-minute warningpublished at 21:14 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs 14-7 Baltimore Ravens

Finely poised here as we go into the final two minutes of the half with Baltimore looking to tie it all up.

Probably give the edge to the Chiefs so far in terms of being able to move the ball consistently, but not taking the field goal was probably a mistake, while Lamar Jackson got away with that batted pass that could have easily been a second turnover.

It's all about taking your chances though, and now Baltimore have a big one to end the half on a high.

  17. Three and outpublished at 21:12 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs 14-7 Baltimore Ravens

Nothing doing for the Chiefs here as they go three and out and have to punt it away. It's not the best kick either as it goes just 30 yards meaning Baltimore have decent field position on their own 41.

Contrast that with the Ravens who kicked it 39 yards to pin KC back to their own 19 and it shows how special teams can help switch the field.

  18. Anything Lamar can't do?published at 21:07 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs 14–7 Baltimore Ravens

    Mark Chapman
Presenter on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

After that play, only Zay Flowers has more catching yards through the air for Baltimore Ravens so far than Lamar Jackson.

  19. Jackson taken downpublished at 21:04 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs 14-7 Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson is almost sacked but just about gets the ball away for an incomplete pass, which is again the result of his third down side arm effort that Chris Jones got one of his big paws on.

Baltimore have to punt it away as these two top-draw defences start to take over. Makes you think the Chiefs should have kicked the field goal even more.

  20. 'One of the greatest plays I've seen in a Championship game'published at 21:03 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January

Kansas City Chiefs 14-7 Baltimore Ravens

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo on CBS: "That's one of the greatest plays I've ever seen in a Championship game. Lamar Jackson just uses that God-given instinct to stay alert and catch his own pass."
