Deebo's clearly had some juice at half-time.

Brock Purdy picks out his receiver for the third time in this half and Samuel duly pockets another 17 yards.

The 49ers have so many weapons - it's getting them all cooking at once.

Detroit Lions 24–10 San Francisco 49ers

A choice here for Dan Campbell at fourth and two on the 49ers' 30-yard line.

Is it really a choice? Of course he goes for it and Josh Reynolds get free but he can't bring it in.

It's a wry smile from the Lions head coach as the ball turns over.

  3. 'Niners need pressure'published at 01:39 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

Detroit Lions 24-10 San Francisco 49ers

Former NFL tight end Greg Olsen on Fox: “The Niners have just got to get some pressure on Jared Goff. They might have to consider some blitz, even though that's not a staple of this defence."

  4. Postpublished at 01:36 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

Detroit Lions 24–7 San Francisco 49ers

Can the 49ers' defence hold off this cooking Lions offence?

It's not a promising start as rookie tight end Sam Laporta smuggles in his fifth catch of the day for a 16-yard pick-up on first down.

A false start from defensive tackle Javon Hargrave costs the hosts another five yards and Kyle Shanahan looks down in frustration.

    Lions move over mid field.

Kyle Shanahan no doubt wanted to deliver a message to his team during the break.

Perhaps he should have just opened the 49ers' locker room door!!

Legendary local band Journey were playing the half-time show, including their 1981 anthem Don't Stop Believin'.

  6. field goal

Sadly for the 49ers, the drive peters out and so Jake Moody comes on to take aim with a field goal.

He missed his kick in the first half - which looks pretty costly now - but he's on target here to trim the Lions' lead to 14 points.

A scrambling Brock Purdy looks in trouble as he loops a pass skyward into the middle of the field.

He's relieved to see Jauan Jennings haul in a tremendous one-handed catch to keep the drive going.

HT: Detroit Lions 24–7 San Francisco 49ers

Phoebe Schecter, former Buffalo Bills coach, on Sky Sports: "There has only been one catch for Deebo Samuel and one for Brandon Aiyuk in that first half. This is the Lions' man coverage.

"But now the 49ers are going to have to find creative ways to get those guys involved. One, to alleviate the pressure on Brock Purdy and two to allow their run game a bit of space.

"CMC cannot be the whole offense for the 49ers."

Awaiting the winners in Vegas... naturally it's Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

It will be a fourth Super Bowl in five years for the star quarterback and head coach Andy Reid who trundled into the home of the juggernaut AFC top seed - and duly rolled over their hosts.

Travis Kelce broke the record for most receptions in the post-season and the Chiefs defence limited the Ravens to a solitary field goal after the first quarter.

Ndamukong Suh, former Super Bowl winner, on Sky Sports:

"It’s very interesting [watching the run game].

"I have played against Kyle Shanahan so many times and that’s his model. But Dan Campbell has put that back onto him.

"Campbell is trusting his team to throw their run game down the 49ers' throat, backing his defence to stop their run and saying to Shanahan that Brock Purdy will have to be the all-star quarterback to beat them."

  14. Now the 49ers have a real challengepublished at 01:18 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

If Kyle Shanahan thought it was good for his team to come from behind last week then they have a real challenge on their hands now.

No-one can say the 49ers don't deserve to get to the big game if they manage to fight back from here.

Brock Purdy managed to produce a near-flawless drive to win the game last week. Now he needs to do it for a entire half. And the hosts' defence needs to step up too.

Wow, we didn't expect that! Detroit have been incredible, running the ball at will but also breaking off some big plays and also converting third downs with ease.

Dan Campbell's side are running away with it, and it will take some turnaround for San Francisco to get back into this game now.

The 49ers have some serious work to do on both sides of the ball as Detroit now just sit 30 minutes away from their first ever Super Bowl appearance.

  17. Field goal - Lionspublished at 01:08 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

Oh, Dan Campbell really wanted to go for the touchdown on fourth down but eventually decides to send Michael Badgley on to chip over a short 21-yarder to stretch the lead to 17 points in what;s been a monumental first half display.

  18. 'Lions doing whatever they want'published at 01:05 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

Detroit Lions 21-7 San Francisco 49ers

Greg Olsen, former NFL tight end, on Sky Sports: "The 49ers have got no answer to the Detroit Lions at the moment who are doing whatever they want on third down.

"They need one of their superstars like Fred Warner or Nick Bosa to step up for them now just before half-time."

  19. Another third down conversionpublished at 01:05 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January

Detroit Lions 21-7 San Francisco 49ers

Jared Goff is just slinging it about and the Lions are doing what they please on third down - it's really impressive especially on the road against this defence.

Amon-Ra St Brown is a legitimate top tier receiver in the league and although Goff may not be the best QB in the league he's proving more than effective and is swinging for the fences tonight.

The Niners had taken timeouts thinking they'll get the ball back, but Jared Goff has other ideas and he converts the third and 18 with a dart down the middle to Amon-Ra St Brown.
