Summary

  1. Round 12published at 21:01 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Adames v Sheeraz

"You've got to knock him out to win" is what is coming from the Sheeraz corner. And not what they told him at the end of round nine. Steve Bunce isn't happy with the corner work on commentary.

    Huge round coming up.

  2. Round 11published at 21:01 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Adames v Sheeraz

Lovely left hook to the body from Sheeraz before he grazes Adames with an uppercut. The crowd responds but Adames comes back with a right and left straight to rock the head of Sheeraz.

"Let your shots go" comes the shout from the Sheeraz corner but it's Adames who continues to come on strong before Sheeraz plants a great left on the side of Adames' head.

I wonder if Sheeraz has gone on the backfoot because of the corner advice? There was moments where he was on his toes dancing around like he was in control, he's far from it.

  4. Round 10published at 20:56 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Adames v Sheeraz

Adames rushes out of his corner once again at the start of the round and begins to work on the body of Sheeraz. Frank Warren's advice doesn't seem to have sunk in for Sheeraz as he fails to let the gloves go again.

I feel like Sheeraz needs something special in these last two rounds if he's to become a world champion tonight.

Sheeraz's body language is not good. He's walking back to the corner looking at the floor.

  6. Round ninepublished at 20:53 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Adames v Sheeraz

Frank Warren shouts at Sheeraz before the start of the ninth and it seems to do the trick with Sheeraz landing a good right hook. After taking a couple of body shots, Sheeraz lands a left and right uppercut on the chin. Adames gets a telling-off after a very low punch on Sheeraz.

Warren makes his way around to the Sheeraz corner to scream instructions. Although Sheeraz's corner has just told him he is winning the fight. We don't think so.

  7. Round eightpublished at 20:48 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Adames v Sheeraz

Adames starts the round quickly again with a couple of jabs and a straight right to the body. Sheeraz lowers his hands and Adames lands a huge overhand right on the face of Sheeraz. That definitely hurt.

Sheeraz comes back with a triple jab but it's too little too late. That round should go to Adames.

The corner are screaming for Sheeraz to let his hands go. At some stage, when you're fighting a good champion, you've got to take a risk.

  9. Round sevenpublished at 20:44 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Adames v Sheeraz

Sheeraz's hands are high once again as he circles around the centre of the ring. Adames is once again trying to lessen the distance between the two and Sheeraz nails him with a good uppercut as he comes in.

It's yet another close round. A really tough fight to score.

Sheeraz has never been manhandled like this before. He's never been in this situation before, going into round seven where he hasn't hurt the opponent.

  11. Round sixpublished at 20:40 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Adames v Sheeraz

Adames is working the body of Sheeraz. They might not be causing huge damage but they'll certainly be getting noticed by the judges. A number of Adames' shots are being blocked but he's much more active than Sheeraz.

A cautious performance from Sheeraz as we enter the second half of the fight.

Those body shots were all legal on the belt. I didn't like the way Sheeraz responded to those body shots.

  13. Round fivepublished at 20:36 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Adames v Sheeraz

Sheeraz is floating around the ring with Adames really struggling to land anything of any note. But is Sheeraz doing enough to take the rounds at the moment? I'm not so sure.

The movement really is great but Sheeraz needs to follow it up with some damaging punches and he does just that in the last second with a hard right.

The pace increased drastically in that round. Sheeraz isn't losing it, but he's not winning it either. At some stage, he has to take that risk and drop his hands a little bit.

  15. Round fourpublished at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Adames v Sheeraz

Lovely left to the head from Sheeraz before he unleashes a left hook to the body. Sheeraz's patience is wearing thin and he's starting to open up and throw more punishing punches.

Adames is throwing plenty with intent but he's struggling with the reach difference as Sheeraz lands with a beauty of an uppercut.

Sheeraz cannot commit against Adames, I have a feeling he has fast hands when he lands. It's an intriguing fight.

  17. Round threepublished at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Adames v Sheeraz

Another quick start from Adames as he comes out of the corner aggressively. Is Sheeraz sizing his man up? He's certainly not throwing as adventurously as we're used to.

Nothing of note to write about in the third round. It's pretty tame stuff but it's better work from Adames in the early stages.

A bit better from Sheeraz, he let the left hand go. He's still not let the right hand go, I think he has to start letting it go now and then.

  19. Round twopublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Adames v Sheeraz

Both circle around centre ring and Adames lands a tasty right on the face of Sheeraz. Pretty tentative stuff from Sheeraz as he keeps his guard high up to his face but he then clips Adames with a quick left hook.

Adames has great movement and he forces Sheeraz to miss a number of his shots.

That's the most sensible I've seen Sheeraz in the opening round. He was cautious and didn't want to let his hands go.
