  1. Round onepublished at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Adames v Sheeraz

Sheeraz with the huge height and reach advantage looks to try and nail Adames with some firm jabs. Sheeraz takes a right hand before firing back with a good left. The stocky build of Adames is bobbing and weaving in front of Sheeraz as he looks to fight more on the inside.

    Good start from Sheeraz.

    Adames v Sheeraz

Hamzaz Sheeraz knows to be the best, you have to beat the best. In Carlos Ademes, the Brit comes up against someone with 18 knockouts to his name.

BBC Sport asked Sheeraz what he fears most about the WBC middleweight champion: "Everything. He's a world champion for a reason. He can punch hard, he's fast and strong. There isn't a champion I'd rather beat than him to get more recognition.

"I feel like he is the honourable champion and I'm looking forward to answering questions about myself. Let's see what Hamzah Sheeraz is on the world stage."

One of my most memorable call-outs when a bullish, much younger, Eddie Hearn tried to tempt Carl Frampton into a fight with Matchroom boxer Scott Quigg.

In April 2015, Hearn displayed a cheque with the sum of £1.5m live on television, though wisely put his fingers over sensitive banking details.

The rivals eventually fought the following year, with Northern Ireland's Frampton successfully outpointing his rival to defend the IBF super-bantamweight title in Quigg's home city of Manchester.

Vergil Ortiz Jr has just picked up a unanimous decision win over Israil Madrimov. One judge scored it 117-11 with the other two seeing it at 115-113 in the American's favour.

Ortiz extends his perfect record to 23 victories as Madrimov falls to a second consecutive defeat.

Speaking of Josh Padley, who spends his days working as an electrician, what job could you picture your favourite fighter doing if they hadn't carved out a career in boxing?

I've seen Oleksandr Usyk juggling enough times during training to think he might have missed his calling in the circus.

Anthony Joshua tends to get quite deep in his interviews, could he have been a philosopher?

Padley, who is undefeated in 15 fights, jumped at the chance to step in and he gets the opportunity to try and pull off a major shock tonight.

    Adames v Sheeraz

Hamzah Sheeraz is looking to place his name alongside some legends of the sport by beating WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames tonight.

Victory would Sheeraz join Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns and Roberto Duran in having held the prestigious green and gold WBC middleweight belt.

Sheeraz's journey to this points has not been as straightforward as his 21-0 record suggests, though.

He has dealt with doubters throughout his career, most notably after a controversial win over Bradley Skeete in 2021.

But there have been two constant firm believers in Sheeraz's potential - his family and Queensberry promoter Frank Warren.

To fund his early pro career, Sheeraz has said his family fell into £800,000 worth of debt and the fighter has made it his mission to repay them.

"From what I've come from to where I am today is literally zero to hundred," Sheeraz told BBC Sport. "I had no amateur pedigree and financial head start.

"It would mean everything and more to my family for me to win the world title. They have always understood the assignment, the ups and downs."

    Adames v Sheeraz

    Kal Sajad
    BBC Sport boxing reporter

Carlos Adames has been oozing confidence all week. He has described Hamzah Sheeraz as a hype job, belittling the Londoner's record.

With his wiry frame, the six foot, two inch Sheeraz towered over the Dominican at the weigh-in. But Adames was unbothered by the physical differences.

"Coconuts are high and we can still take them down, so I'll do the same to him," he said.

  18. History-maker Beterbievpublished at 19:31 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Beterbiev v Bivol 2

Artur Beterbiev etched his name into the history books in October when his majority decision win over Dmitry Bivol made him the first undisputed light-heavyweight champion in the four-belt era.

Beterbiev, 40, also became the division's first undisputed champion since 2002.

There was very little in the result and you could easily make an argument for it going either way - some felt Bivol had done more than enough to win, including the Russian's promoter Eddie Hearn who said he was "disgusted" by the decision.

If you missed the previous encounter then you Kal Sajad has you covered and you can read his report here.

After coming out on top Beterbiev was quick to suggest he was capable of "boxing with more quality", while Bivol said "I could do better".

They were extremely evenly matched and for those of you who like to delve deep into the numbers, you might enjoy our piece on who won each round.

Boxing is all about shooting your shot. We've certainly seen that this week with Josh Padley jumping into a world title on four days' notice.

As you saw in the previous post, Joseph Parker is no stranger to trying to maximise his opportunities - even if it means going down a comedy route.

Parker isn't the only boxer to employed a different approach to trying to generate interest for a fight. Remember Shannon Briggs chasing down Wladimir Klitschko on boat?
