    Target 219

Short from Rehan Ahmed and Shai Hope goes back and launches the ball high over the leg side for six.

For a split second it looked as though he hadn't got all of it and there might be the chance of a catch.

No. The ball sails a long, long way over the rope.

    • 41 off 19 vs England, Today
  4. WI 69-0published at 6 overs

Dan Mousley responds with an even shorter, quicker ball that Evin Lewis can't get any bat on.

Not bad when one of your spinners can do that, is it?

Two dot balls end the over but it's been a superb powerplay for West Indies.

Evin Lewis is still there and now he joins the six-hitting party.

Slightly short from Dan Mousley and Lewis carts him high over long on for a maximum.

Relief for Evin Lewis and West Indies.

Quick as Phil Salt was, the left-hander got his foot down in the nick of time.

Oh dear. Has Evin Lewis just gifted England a wicket with a bit of doziness?

Phil Salt reckons he's stumped the West Indies opener as he lifted his foot after the ball trickled down leg...

Dan Mousley into the attack... and the ball flies out of the ground.

Demolished over extra cover by Shai Hope. He is incredible to watch when he's in this sort of mood.

    Target 219

Another glorious shot from Shai Hope, this one a piercing drive through the covers, reaches the fence and brings up the fifty partnership.

Sam Curran will be pleased to get Hope off strike but it takes a super diving stop from Dan Mousley to deny Evin Lewis a boundary later in the over.

A bouncer is ducked by Lewis as Curran manages to get out of the over without any further damage.

Six balls of the powerplay remain. Can England break this opening stand?

There have been 30 previous instances of a side chasing 200 or more in T20Is - only once has a side faced a maiden over when doing so (India vs Australia, Visakhapatnam, 23rd November 2023).

    Shai Hope is flying now.

He's put that first over from Saqib Mahmood behind him and after four leg-byes, he adds two more boundaries from his own bat.

A thick outside edge flies over point before some remarkable timing sees him get the ball over the in-field on the leg side and away for four more despite not looking in any position to generate such power.

That second over from John Turner was my fear but it happens in this format and defending this target and with this series already won, it's the ideal time to learn.

    Six more!

Big over for West Indies as Shai Hope nails the ball leg side for the second six of the over before carting the last last delivery over cover for four.

That John Turner over went for 25. A brutal welcome to T20I cricket for the debutant.

  16. WI 20-0published at 2.4 overs

    Target 219

Back-to-back - but very contrasting - boundaries for Shai Hope.

The first is dismissively pummelled through the covers but the next is rather more fortuitous, as an inside edge takes the ball to the cushion at fine leg.

That's more like it for the home side.

At the pads from John Turner and Evin Lewis effortlessly whips it away over down backward square for six.

That was a look of satisfaction from Mahmood at that end of the maiden over.

    Maiden.

Superb from Saqib Mahmood. The frustration told for Shai Hope as he came charging down the track fifth ball, only to play and miss again with an ugly swipe.

Solid start for England but West Indies will be grateful not to have lost any early wickets... yet.

  20. WI 5-0published at 1.2 overs

    Target 219

Excellent start from Saqib Mahmood, who has been brilliant with the new ball in this series.

There is swing there for him and Shai Hope plays and misses at the first two.
