This has been some start from England's openers.

Will Jacks lofts a wide delivery from Obed McCoy over cover for another four.

    Eng 33-0published at 3 overs

Will Jacks joins the party with a sumptuous strike down the ground!

Akeal Hosein grumpily retrieves his cap from the umpire after conceding 18 from his first over. England are on the charge.

    And again!

A drag-down from Hosein and Salt clubs it into the stands for the first six of the innings.

  4. Eng 22-0published at 2.2 overs

    Filth.

Akeal Hosein gifts Phil Salt a short and wide one that he gratefully pummels through the off side for four.

  5. Eng 15-0published at 2 overs

Fielding lets West Indies down again. Alzarri Joseph concedes just one single from his first five balls, it should be one from the entire over until Shimron Hetmyer shambolically lets one through his legs for two.

Daren Sammy, meanwhile, enjoys some fresh pineapple as he watches from the West Indies dug out. That's the life.

    Phil Salt this series:

    • vs left-arm spin - 37 runs off 33 balls, 2 dismissals - 123 strike rate
    • vs all other bowling types - 78 runs off 40 balls, 0 dismissals - 200 strike rate
  7. Eng 12-0published at 1 over

Phil Salt slams the next ball down the ground for four.

Not the ideal start for Obed McCoy on his return to the side.

  8. Eng 8-0published at 0.3 overs

    Oh, that's a stinker.

Salt is pinned on the pads, safely fielded at square leg for a dot ball until a dreadful throw into the keeper sails down to deep third for a boundary!

Obed McCoy, quite rightfully, is seething.

  9. Eng 4-0published at 0.2 overs

But he gets a boundary from the second!

McCoy offers a leg-stump freebie and Salt whips it through mid-wicket for four.

Captains winning the toss and chasing has not just been a feature of this T20I series but also of England's two previous tours of the West Indies - only once has a captain elected to bat first after winning the toss across the 2022, 2023 and 2024 T20I Windies vs England series.

  11. Eng 0-0published at 0.1 overs

Obed McCoy is straight into the action to take the first over.

West Indies lost five wickets in the powerplay when they batted first on Thursday so England will be wary of the new-ball threat.

Phil Salt absolutely crunches the first ball but straight to the fielder at cover.

Clean sweep is paramount in the England thinking I’m sure but having to bat first, albeit not their choice, seems ideal to me.

  13. Turner gets England debut, McCoy replaces Forde for Windiespublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November

There's a T20 debut tonight for England pacer John Turner, who comes in for Jofra Archer. The 23-year-old Hampshire man has been in a few squads over the past year or so, and had some injury struggles, but finally gets his chance tonight in St Lucia.

There's been a change for West Indies' squad as left-arm seamer Obed McCoy has been added for the last two T20s as a replacement for medium-pacer Matthew Forde.

McCoy comes straight into the side today as Forde, who was player of the series for the ODI leg of the tour, has injured his thigh during training. Sherfane Rutherford also comes into the XI for Romario Shepherd as the other change from Thursday.

England can play slightly more freely now and there are players here who are still on the borderline of international selection.

This is a chance for them to really go for it and push for selection.

West Indies: Evin Lewis, Shai Hope, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Rovman Powell, Shimron Hetmyer, Sherfane Rutherford, Roston Chase, Alzarri Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, Akeal Hosein, Obed McCoy.

England: Phil Salt (wk), Will Jacks, Jos Buttler (c), Jacob Bethell, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Jamie Overton, Dan Mousley, Rehan Ahmed, Saqib Mahmood, John Turner.

England captain Jos Buttler: "It's a different challenge for us having to set a total now. We've spoken a lot about this scenario so we'll be looking to be positive while batting first.

"John Turner comes in for Jofra Archer.

"We want to keep our high standards in all aspects of the game even though we are batting first and defending today."

  17. Postpublished at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November

West Indies captain Rovman Powell: "We're going to bowl first, it looks a pretty good surface. It's important to start well with the ball but it always favours the team batting last here.

"It's important for players to stand up and be counted. It's always better to lose a series 3-2 than 4-1 or 5-0.

"We have two changes, Sherfane Rutherford comes in for Romario Shepherd and Obed McCoy comes in for Terrance Hinds.

"From the last game, Sherfane comes in for Shepherd because he came up with a tight groin. From the bowling aspect, we think McCoy gives us something different."

On batting: "You don't keep losing wickets in clusters. If guys show good technical skills and nick off, you can live with that but when you're four or five down and still have guys caught on the boundary, sometimes it is a little bit tough. Today provides an opportunity for guys to change that."

Smiles and giggles all round, slightly ironically, as West Indies skipper Rovman Powell finally wins a toss at the fourth time of asking.

Unsurprisingly, with all three games so far won by the chasing team, he decides to bowl first.
