Haha so Siraj is "playground at best" but Crawley slowing down play because he saw a pigeon four miles away was fine?

Here's an example of that pitch re-awakening - Jasprit Bumrah's ball that struck Zak Crawley on the gloves in the second over of the day.

Has the pitch woken up, or was it always awake and England were unable to get a response? Or is it just because Bumrah can do things other bowlers can't?

I was doing a pitch report today and there were a lot of dents. There is a major difference from the pitch compared to yesterday especially from Nursery End. It's becoming dangerous as a batter. Every second ball is jumping off from good length and there is nothing much you can do as a batter.

  5. Eng 27-1published at 7 overs

    Flying off an edge!

Jasprit Bumrah charges down from the Nursery End for his sixth delivery and sends down a delivery that's verging on full.

The ball fires off the pitch and takes the shoulder of Ollie Pope's bat, flying over the cordon for four.

This pitch has definitely woken up.

In his Test career, Ben Duckett has scored 140 runs against Siraj in 10 innings with a strike rate of 81, and today is the first time he got out to Siraj.

Duckett could not have given his wicket away more needlessly. Terrible ball and he plays the most embarrassing shot to gift them their first scalp. Does he not realise it’s a Test match?

England have got to be really careful here. There's a fine line between pressurising the bowlers and recklessness. Duckett batted like a man who had the pitch and Siraj in his head. If England try to win this Test this morning, there's more chance of them losing it.

Not sure anyone has covered themselves in glory there. Pretty poor shot from Ben Duckett, but Siraj’s behaviour is playground at best.

I have a feeling that is going into the match referees office. I am not sure screaming at someones face is something they can get away with. After an interesting battle, Ben Duckett has now departed and trying to keep India quiet has not worked.

    Pulled to mid-on!

Ben Duckett had riled Mohammed Siraj with some aggressive play earlier in the over, but now the India seamer has his man.

A soft dismissal, not getting on top of the short ball and sending it straight to Jasprit Bumrah.

Siraj roars in Ben Duckett's face and there's a brushing of shoulders as India's fielders run in to celebrate - no reaction from the England opener as he trudges off.

There’s plenty of chatter out there.

I asked KL Rahul last night if there would be more after the time-wasting shenanigans of yesterday. He played it down and said India would have been pumped up regardless.

Shubman Gill is wandering in from extra cover. Nitish Kumar Reddy in the gully looks to be particularly vocal.

He is here to entertain today Ben Duckett. The crowd is here and this is Bazball 1.0. He played that ramp shot so well.

  15. Eng 22-0published at 5.3 overs

    Ramped!

That's a very confident shot from Ben Duckett facing a new ball, lifting Mohammed Siraj's ball over his shoulder and through an empty fine leg for four.

Two balls earlier, he'd gone for a big shot across the line and got nowhere near it.

Probably my inherit pessimism but as an England supporter I’m very nervous of what a fired up India attack could do in cooler conditions.

Zak Crawley has faced a lot of balls this morning without scoring much, which is very unlike him. He has attracted all the good balls this morning.

  18. Eng 18-0published at 5 overs

Edged, but flying wide of the cordon and for four!

Zak Crawley knicks Jasprit Bumrah's delivery but Nitish Kumar Reddy can't get a hand on the ball as it flies away to the ropes.

Bumrah then strikes the England opener on the gloves again - it definitely feels like we're seeing a bit of variable bounce on day four.

What saved Zak Crawley there is how far he is batting from outside the crease. That's why the ball had a long way to travel after impact with the pads.

    Eng 11-0

    Nothing doing.

It looks pretty close on replay, but ball tracking has the ball passing high and wide of leg stump - not even umpire's call.

    India lose a review.
