In 2018 at Birmingham, England set a target of 194 for India. On the back of brilliant spells from Stokes (4-40), Anderson (2-50), and Broad (2-43), India were bowled out for 162, despite a fighting 51 from Virat Kohli. England won the match by 31 runs.

The stage is set for a thrilling day five finish at Lord's.

If England are analysing their performance, when it comes to pressure situations, they crumble. If Bumrah blows you away, then fair enough. But when it's an off spinner when there is not much out there, then that's not acceptable. When it comes to these situations and tests you, this team hasn't stepped up enough.

It is about who handles pressure better tomorrow. It should be England considering they are the home side and a slightly bit more experienced. If Rishabh Pant gets going, then none of these things matter. But if he doesn't then the pressure turned up even more.

Ben Stokes holds the massive key, he has been the best bowler all summer. The combination we have seen for the last 30 minutes has to be what they start with. For England there is a lot at stake, with the team going forward and the preparation for The Ashes.

The match was drifting for England. Someone had to take the game by the scruff ot the neck. And Brydon Carse did.

If Shoaib Bashir has to come into the equation then India will be happy with that. England have to let the seamers sort it out.

More from England batting coach Marcus Trescothick on Test Match Special: "It was tricky, the ball is moving around but when the ball gets a little bit softer there is more runs to be had out there but if you get it enough in the right place it's very tricky.

"We would have loved 250 and beyond but we would have taken 190 and our chance to bowl on that pitch and it'll come down to who holds the pressure best tomorrow.

"I think it's very competitive, there is always lines that you have to be weary not to cross and both teams are passionate about playing the game and it is understandable that at times it gets to a boiling point and there will be things that happen between the two teams."

On the anticipation for the final day tomorrow: "I think it will be brilliant for both teams. There's been great support for both sides and it's fantastic to have. And when you get a game like this that warrants the value of watching it, it's great to have both teams really well supported and may the best team win."

India still favourites, but one or two early wickets will likely flip the percentages.

India started the innings with a 77% chance of victory.

England batting coach Marcus Trescothick on Test Match Special: "I think the last hour's of viewing, our guys running in really well, there was an edge out there and it makes sure how important Test cricket is and creates a great spectacle for everyone to be involved in.

"I thought we were fairly relaxed in the dressing room, controlling the emotions of what's going on. We all enjoy every wicket but we still very controlled in what you are trying to do."

  13. 'It's always going to be difficult for the batsmen'published at 18:44 British Summer Time 13 July

India spinner Washington Sundar speaking to Sky Sports: "India will win, probably just after lunch.

"The position we're in we'd have differently taken. The fast bowlers kept the pressure on throughout the day, it was amazing.

"We expected a little bit of seam movement, a little bit of up and down. The plan was to not give out many runs as the fast bowlers were always going to be in play.

"All of my wickets were big wickets, which pleased me. Coming at that stage of play was heartening. The UK has been very heartening [with drift], I don't normally get that much in the sub-continent.

"With this Lord's wicket there wasn't too much bounce, so if I pitched the ball around the 4-5 metre mark there was a chance. My mind, especially on this wicket, if they're trying to sweep or slog sweep it's always going to be difficult for the batsmen. I'm always trying to hit the stumps. The fact Bumrah was bowling from the other end definitely helped, the fact we have him in our team is amazing."

We're all a bit hoarse after that. It was absolutely gripping. Even World Cup finals don't quite generate that kind of madness.

I thought it was done and dusted then Brydon Carse got the ball in his hands. Karun Nair missed a straight one and there was a panic on.

India walk off still needing 135 runs to win with six wickets remaining.

It's been a superb day of Test cricket, with England resuming on 2-0 and were bowled out for 192, losing 6-31 either side of tea as Washington Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah caused chaos.

But England fought back in the evening session, with Jofra Archer removing Yashasvi Jaiswal early on, Brydon Carse taking two wickets in quick succession and Ben Stokes striking in the final over.

We'll have a result tomorrow - India remain favourites, but the game would swing quite rapidly in England's favour with a couple more wickets.

I never know how much to make of these things but the two balconies look to be telling a story now. Gautam Gambhir looks furious with all of the players and backroom staff in their chairs.

The England balcony is on their feet applauding Stokes' men from the field.

What an amazing spell of play, the crowd played it's part especially Brydon Carse and what a message to send as well, off stump out of the ground. Terrific stuff from England. Started pretty well India but England have come roaring back.
