There it is! Success for Jimmy Anderson in his final Test innings. It looks like a big grin of relief.

    Brathwaite b Anderson 4 (WI 12-1)

    Wicket 702 for James Anderson!

A classic in-swinger from the veteran seamer cleans up Kraigg Brathwaite, far too good for the West Indies opener.

The ball clips the top of middle stump and Anderson wheels away to celebrate with his team-mates.

Six more to equal Shane Warne...

More lovely timing from Mikyle Louis. He has not played much first-class cricket but he has got all the fundamentals.

  4. WI 12-0published at 8 overs

Debutant Mikyle Louis picks a fuller ball from Chris Woakes and drives it beautifully through the covers.

  5. WI 8-0published at 7 overs

Kraigg Brathwaite sees out a James Anderson maiden.

Savour those six continuous dot balls, we're on borrowed time now.

    Thanks Ffion.

Numerous terrible opinions about trousers in this live today.

I'd say a lot of you need locking up, but you'd probably venerate the comfiness of the prison overall.

  7. WI 8-0published at 6 overs

There's plenty for England to work with out there, as the new ball is seaming and swinging quite a lot. Chris Woakes concedes just one from the over as Kraigg Brathwaite and Mikyle Louis continue to dig in.

Anyway, here is Defender of the Jeans himself, Mike Peter to take you through the evening session.

Keenan: If Windies make between 250 and 275, does Jimmy get sent out to open?

Classic Jimmy Anderson. One in, one out, one straighter, all beating the edge of Mikyle Louis.

The camera pans to his daughters in the crowd, who are up on their feet in excitement and then disbelief that none of them resulted in a wicket.

Louis does eventually connect with a lovely drive through the covers for a couple.

Kraigg Brathwaite hits West Indies' first boundary with a firm drive past mid-off from Chris Woakes' bowling, not perfectly timed but the new ball is always going to travel quickly. Even Ben Stokes couldn't catch up with it.

Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

He’s led the bowlers for years, that’s part and parcel of it. He’s got leadership traits, just never been captain. Could you imagine interviewing Jimmy twice a week?

Another maiden from Anderson, as miserly as ever.

West Indies are looking to settle in.

Andy Zaltzman worked out if Jimmy bowled 24 hours a day non-stop he’d have to bowl for 18 and a half days [to match his career outings].

An oversight on my part, the players took an early tea after England's innings came to an end. So we're in for a pretty long evening session here.

Mikyle Louis gets West Indies off the mark with a single dabbed to cover.

England's innings came to an abrupt end, which didn't allow much time to dwell on this cracking piece of fielding by Mikyle Louis.

    Superb work.

Too much to hope that Jimmy takes eight wickets to end his Test career with only Murali ahead of him?

Of course, he starts with a maiden.

  18. WI 0-0published at 0.1 overs

    Here he comes.

Soak it in, people. Jimmy Anderson is opening the bowling in Test cricket for the last time.

He starts by beating Kraigg Brathwaite outside the off stump with one that keeps a little low.

We've been treated to plenty of wholesome Jimmy moments over the space of the first day and a half (ish). He walked out to bat to a spine-tingling ovation, even though he ended up not facing a ball!

We're expecting him to be back out with the ball in hand shortly - and this may be the most emotional spell of all!

Sam: Smith showing exactly why he’s in ahead of Foakes and Jonny Bairstow. Foakes can bat but doesn't have the gears to bat with the tail and score the vital late innings runs.
