Right, while the players tuck into what's no doubt a magnificent Lord's buffet, I'm off to sample the delights of the BBC canteen.

England have scored 104 runs in the morning session, for the loss of three wickets. But 48 of those runs came in the first eight overs of the day, with only 56 coming in the subsequent 20.

The West Indies attack have done a decent job of stalling England's batters in the last hour or so, but the hosts already have a first innings lead of 172, so are unlikely to be too concerned.

Gudakesh Motie can be pleased with his contribution so far this morning, since his introduction he's racked up figures of 1-21 off eight overs.

The game is drifting a little at the minute, but England are in a decent position. You suspect they'll play out the session, before perhaps kicking on after lunch.

Ed: Having tickets for days four and five, I'm feeling distinctly anti-Bazball for a change!

Smith gets off the strike by pushing Motie into the covers, before Root faces five deliveries without scoring.

The penultimate delivery strikes Root on the pad, and an appeal dies in the throat of the West Indies bowler. Heading down leg.

Stuart: I disagree with Pete (12:23) in the past we have done this. I don't see that here. Good balls are allowed to get batsman out, and we are still 153 ahead with 5 wickets remaining. We would all take being in this position.

John Jefferis: Re: Pete at 12:23. There is a good chance that England will end up winning this Test before the end of the third day, not sure just how much more ruthless you would like us to be?

Matt: R:E Victoria at 12:11 Whilst declaring this early would be a typical bold Bazball move, I think it would be more sensible to get a lead of at least 200 before declaring, if we don't collapse before then. Otherwise a good second innings for West Indies could put us under pressure on the chase.
