Sajid Khan is setting up really nicely here, he's getting good positioning to get these shots away.

It was thrown invitingly by Shoaib Bashir and he launched it.

    Six more.

Perhaps not quite as cleanly struck this time but the bowl still comfortably carries into the crowd from Sajid Khan.

The Pakistan number 10 comes again and a hoick leg side brings four more.

I thought that was going straight up but he managed to find the distance.

Sajid Khan really gave a swing at that, beautiful stroke.

  7. 300 runs

    Pak 300-8published at 87.1 overs

    Lead by 33

    Sajid Khan goes again!

He smashed Shoaib Bashir high, very high towards long on and for a moment it looks like Ben Duckett might be in play.

As it is, the ball sails well over his head as Pakistan lead continues to grow.

  8. Pak 294-8published at 87 overs

    Lead by 27

This partnership will already be frustrating England and a couple of loose deliveries from Jack Leach don't help.

A full toss then a half-volley from the left-arm spinner are driven through extra cover by Saud Shakeel.

He gets three each time and then nails a slog sweep for four to end the over. Trouble brewing for the tourists.

That six was Sajid Khan's first in a Test match.

If this is the way Sajid Khan is going to play, it could get Pakistan that lead of 40.

  11. 6 runs

    Pak 281-8published at 86 overs

    Lead by 14

Sajid Khan is going to play his shots!

He charges Shoaib Bashir and hoists the ball high over cow corner with real power.

Next ball, he looks to go again but without the same connection. He still finds the gap for two to keep Saud Shakeel on strike for the next over.

Umpire Gaffaney has been very good in this series, he hasn't got a lot wrong.

    Pak 272-8

I tell you what, that is much closer than I thought!

But there was just enough bounce to save Saud Shakeel.

He'd been drawn forward, beaten as the ball skidded on but it's umpire's call.

Not hitting quite enough of leg stump.

  14. England reviewpublished at 85.3 overs

Shoaib Bashir beats the bat of Saud Shakeel and England go up for lbw.

Not out on the field but Ben Stokes sends it upstairs.

It may have bounced too much...

Mark Wood is a huge miss for England this series. Saving him and just using his 95mph rockets would take the pitch out of the equation bowling full and straight on the tailenders toes. We wouldn’t be seeing these partnerships.

Saud Shakeel has played so skilfully today, he's playing to the limits that he's set himself.

  17. Pak 270-8published at 85 overs

    Lead by 3

Pakistan's century-maker nudges another singles before tailender Sajid Khan defends the next few comfortably.

That all changes when Jack Leach gets the delivery to turn and bounce off the straight. Just past the outside edge.

  18. Pak 269-8published at 84.1 overs

    Lead by 2

Saud Shakeel is away first ball after tea, clipping Jack Leach through square leg for two.

    Pakistan have a lead.

Here come the players for the evening session.

After a long morning session followed by a shorter afternoon, it's back to the usual two hours this evening.

England will hope to be batting for the vast majority of it. But that all depends on how quickly they can take these last two Pakistan wickets.

Only 4.4% of false shots in the innings for Saud Shakeel when he reached his century - that makes it the sixth-most secure century by a Pakistani batter in Tests since the start of 2010.

His four boundaries while reaching the century mark is also the joint-lowest since Hashan Tillkaratne scored a century with three boundaries against West Indies in 2001.

Before Tillakaratne, Graham Thorpe reached his century in Lahore in 2000 with only one boundary to his name.
