    Trail by 85

Three singles from Shoaib Bashir's over with Saud Shakeel keeping strike as he rushes through for a quick one to end it.

Time for one more over before lunch. Can Rehan Ahmed sign off his exceptional morning with a fourth wicket?

  2. Pak 179-7published at 60 overs

    Trail by 88

Maiden over from Rehan Ahmed as he tries to work over Noman Ali, starting round the wicket before switching back to over.

Survival seems to be the only thing in Noman's mind so close to lunch as he dead-bats five of the six deliveries. The other was a drive to a fuller ball but hit straight to mid-on.

India have been bowled out for 156 in Pune which means New Zealand take a very handy lead of 103 on first innings.

Mitchell Santner finished with 7-53 to give him his first five-wicket haul in Tests. Ravindra Jadeja was the highest scorer with 38.

On a turning pitch, India now have a massive task on their hands on their hands to avoid defeat.

If they lose, their unbeaten run in home series, which stretches back 18 series to 2012-13, would be over.

  4. Pak 179-7published at 59 overs

    Trail by 88

    Good over from Shoaib Bashir.

Just a couple from it and now it's Rehan Ahmed time again.

I have to say there are few things I enjoy more than watching a leggie bowl when they've got their tail up as Ahmed most certainly does now.

Noman Ali is the new batter and with two left-handers at the crease, Ben Stokes goes back to the off-spin of Shoaib Bashir.

He bowled very well in his first spell this morning.

    The beauty of wrist spin.

I think everyone was shocked at what just happened.

Rehan Ahmed has been the man for England this morning. That all seemed to happen in slow motion.

England are now taking a grip on this Test match.

    Jamal b Ahmed 14 (Pak 177-7)

    Three for Rehan Ahmed!

Aamer Jamal had looked all at sea against the England leg-spinner and he's done by the googly.

The ball came back sharply as Jamal tentatively pushed at it, hit the batter's gloves and bounced back onto the stumps.

No more than Ahmed deserves. He's put England in a superb position as lunch approaches.

Boundaries are hard to come by for Pakistan at the moment.

Another good 'un from Jack Leach to beat Aamer Jamal.

He draws the right-hander forward and this time there is a bit of bounce to go with the turn.

Comfortably beats the forward press of Jamal. Doing too much there.

England are desperate to finish off this innings as quick as they can.

It would be an interesting game if Pakistan could reach England's score.

Rehan Ahmed is still causing plenty of problems for the Pakistan batters.

Even the set Saud Shakeel doesn't look entirely comfortable against him as he skips down, has a swipe and gets a thick outside edge that only just goes over the head of Ben Stokes at slip.

It has been a mightily impressive spell from the 20-year-old England man.

    Sweep shots in this series:

    • First Test, Multan: 161 runs off 111 balls, one dismissal (average 161)
    • Second Test, Multan: 325 runs off 220 balls, seven dismissals (average 46.4)
    • Third Test, Rawalpindi: 85 runs off 53 balls, four dismissals (average 21.3)
  14. Pak 168-6published at 55 overs

    Trail by 99

The deficit is now under 100 after Aamer Jamal pounces on a short ball from Jack Leach and thumps it down the ground.

Leach responds with a ripper next ball. Dragging Jamal forward and getting the ball to turn significantly to beat the bat.

Everyone wondered coming into this Test match what Rehan Ahmed would be like bowling, he's really settled into his style here quickly and looks good for it.

He has done exactly what Ben Stokes needed him to.

  16. Pak 163-6published at 54 overs

Relief for Pakistan as they get through a Rehan Ahmed over without losing a wicket.

Can they get back to the steady accumulation we saw early in this session or is the pitch doing enough now that a more aggressive approach might be needed?

Just waking up? Two quick wickets for Rehan Ahmed have given England the upper hand.

The tourists have been made to work hard this morning. Shoaib Bashir had Shan Masood caught at slip for 26 before a resolute 52-run stand between Muhammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel moved Pakistan into a strong position.

But leg-spinner Ahmed, having been held back by Ben Stokes, dismissed the sweeping Rizwan lbw in his second over of the day.

In his next over he had the dangerous Salman Ali Agha pinned in front by a lovely leg-spinner.

Pakistan are still more than 100 runs behind with four wickets left. Shakeel is still there and has been solid since Jamie Smith put down a tough chance when the left-hander was on 26.

This is also an extended morning session because of Friday prayers so England have time to nip out another before lunch at 08:30 BST.

  18. Pak 159-6published at 53 overs

    Trail by 108

From going along very nicely with Saud Shakeel and Muhammad Rizwan, Pakistan now have work to do to get up towards parity on first-innings.

Shakeel is still there on 61 and this is a vital stand with Aamer Jamal, who is a very capable batter, but one more wicket and England are into the tail.

    Superb again from Rehan Ahmed.

He starts with a googly to Aamer Jamal, finds the inside edge but the ball is just out of reach of Ollie Pope at bat-pad.

Another excellent over from the young wrist-spinner.
