England have got plenty of work to do tomorrow but for Zak Crawley, ensuring he was still there in the morning was a big thing.

The opener was far more watchful before stumps, especially against Jasprit Bumrah, but still treated us to a couple of super shots off Mohammed Siraj...

When you play for your country, of course it means a lot. When you captain your country, that feeling is amplified.

Everyone will be looking at Shubman Gill, he'll be playing it cool but as soon as he gets into that hotel room, all the different scenarios will be playing through his head.

If India get over the line tomorrow, you can't replicate that feeling.

That decent little spell before stumps has improved England chances of victory from 17% to 22%, according to WinViz.

India remain big favourites but it is very much game on!

We can't go without another word for Rishabh Pant.

Just the second player to score twin centuries in a Test at Headingley and his showed all he maverick genius in getting to the second of them today.

At least 7 of this England team have played limited overs cricket for England. This will be a very doable run chase if they don't give silly wickets away.

England seamer Josh Tongue, speaking to BBC Test Match Special: "There were quite a few strong gusts of wind when we were bowling. It's just one of those things that you've got to get used to as the day goes on.

"It was a really grinding day. That first session we played really well. I think we were unlucky, we were happy with the way that we played in the morning. Obviously it flattened out as the day went on.

"[Pant] is one of those players that can do anything. He played some nice shots and I'm just glad we were able to get him out.

"I don't mind bowling at the tail, all I tried to do today was hit the ground hard. I'm happy to do any role in the team, I'm easy to do anything.

"It was crucial to get through those 30 minutes without losing any wickets. We'll need to get through that morning period and get some runs.

"It's been a great game of cricket. It's all been positive in the changing room, there's been no negativity at all, hopefully we can get through the line.

"I've always wanted to play Test cricket for England. Just being around the players in this squad makes you a better player."

They've got to read the situation and the conditions and it will probably do more than we've just seen. This outfield is so quick but the one way that England can lose the game is if they play some expansive shots in the morning.

It is a lot of runs but if there's anyone that I think could go out there, be positive and chase it, it's this England side.

What a great game so far. Test cricket is an incredible watch. You can see how T20 has become the "sevens" of cricket. Same basic sport, but very specialist with its own brand of talented professionals. There is a place for both disciplines, as in rugby, but I fully expect to see T20 become further removed from the red-ball game.

  10. 'A good opportunity to take wickets'published at 18:51 British Summer Time 23 June

England seamer Josh Tongue, speaking to Sky Sports: "To get them all out and not lose a wicket in the last half hour, Ducky and Zak batted really well.

"The first session we batted really well, I thought we were unlucky. The message was to hit the pitch as hard as we can. It flattened out in the second session.

"I think we had to stay patient, how Pant plays anything can happen, he could have put something in the air quite easily. It was great Bash got him in the end.

"I think Pant charged me, we put a man back and then the nick went through slip, it was quite frustrating but one of those things that happens. He moves around the crease quite a lot as well, so I try to bowl my best ball and if he hits me off my best length so be it.

"My best length is back of the length, top of the stumps, like anyone who has got a bit of pace and bounce. Today, the pitch was fairly flat, getting those wickets at the end was pretty crucial. I do enjoy bowling at the tail, it's a good opportunity to take wickets."

We saw today a more controlled effort today. If England bat 90 overs, they won't have to push it. This team they've selected are naturally on the front foot and looking for runs.

If we look at India after tea, they weren't taking the easy runs.

If England lose four or five in that first session, it will be over.

England bowled so beautifully this morning and that's why I was so impressed by KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant.

Rahul really dug in, it was perfect Test match style batting. I hope England take a leaf out of their book and don't try and make any rash decisions early on because that's what will kill them.

It was a day of misfortune for the England bowlers, they bowled beautifully but couldn't get a lot to show for it.

It was that magnificent partnership of KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant that just sucked the life out of England.

  14. 'Blockbuster finish waiting tomorrow'published at 18:44 British Summer Time 23 June

India opener KL Rahul, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's a blockbuster finish waiting tomorrow. When the Test started I felt like the wicket was a beautiful batting wicket and I thought it would go towards a draw, but today it wasn't as easy as the first three days so we hope the cracks open up tomorrow and there's rough for Jadeja. There's a few balls kicking off, Stokesy and Carse got a few balls to kick-off.

"I've had a few partnerships with Pant, it's hard for us to understand his mindset, you've got to let Rishabh Pant be Rishabh Pant, there's obviously a method to his madness, he's averaging 45 in Test cricket, there's a lot of thinking behind the outrageous shots he plays.

"You've seen me play for many years, I'm just getting runs now, there was a time when I wasn't converting starts, in Test cricket especially. At this stage of cricket I'm at, I'm a lot more calm in my head and not chasing numbers.

"There's been a lot of work put in behind the scenes, I've gone back to the basics and doing time, there was a time in international cricket when I got into quality over quantity, I got into that mindset, but I've been spending a lot of time in the nets.

"I don't want to get into the numbers, I've never really looked at averages. I want to keep an impact for the team, wherever I'm asked to bat. I've been blessed with opportunities again and again, I try and grasp that and create impact.

"Someone's got to win tomorrow, it'll be an interesting day. The wicket is not as easy as the first innings, they won't find it as easy to hit the ball on the rise. Even if they get a big partnership, if we get a couple of wickets we'll be right in the game."

It's a measure of where England are now that a run chase of 350 more runs doesn't feel impossible.

It's been a brilliant day of Test cricket but we're so not used to seeing this type of cricket in England. Are we seeing a bit of a trait in this Indian batting line-up?

If the top order don't go out and score hundreds, they can't rely on the tail-end to get anything done.

That is the calmest start to a Bazball-era innings that I've witnessed. There was great control and great patience from both Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett. It's been a great day and great finish for England but 350 to chase is a big total.

England will fancy it but that's a lot of runs to score on the last day.

Yet another enthralling day of Test cricket at Headingley.

India remain the favourites going into day five but England are still in with a chance, they need exactly 350 more to win.

Rain may be a factor tomorrow which would bring the draw into play but with this match so brilliantly poised, let's hope it stays away.

    Target 371

Zak Crawley sees off the last ball of the Ravindra Jadeja over and starts striding off the field.

It's past 18:30 BST so the umpires take off the bails and that is stumps.

A tricky session well negotiated by England's openers.
