I'm not expecting to see Ben Stokes to bowl first. What's important for India is that Shubman Gill will have to put the bowling management from the first innings out of his mind.

It’s bright and windy here at Chester-le-Street. You wouldn’t call these ideal conditions for fast bowling.

Sussex resume nine down so Jofra Archer should be bowling in a first-class match for the first time in four years at some point today.

Big day given England’s hopes for a Test return

And speaking of fast bowlers generally, we could see Jofra Archer bowl for Sussex today, with England still hoping he may play a part in this series.

Matthew Henry has headed up to Chester-le-Street to see him in action...

Speaking of Jasprit Bumrah, TMS's Steven Finn wrote a column last night calling him the "most complete fast bowler ever".

How do you feel about that? Steven makes a compelling argument - take a read.

The India seamer took 5-83 in England's first innings, including the final wicket of Josh Tongue.

I look at Jasprit Bumrah's ability to change the game and he just has a way of bursting it completely open. I think it makes him the most complete fast bowler of all time.

I think Jasprit Bumrah is at his peak, he's enjoying cricket now. He's bowling some of his best that he's ever done.

Bowling at Headingley, there's a slope so that effects how fast you have to run up. We've experienced a lot of no-balls. Then you've got to add the wind into the equation, it's just little things that take your mind off what you're trying to do. All of these distractions will affect the bowling.

As our TMS pundits say, we're in for a fascinating first hour.

If Rahul and Gill can take India's lead towards 200 then they'll have gone a long way to winning this Test.

But if England's bowlers can take a couple more wickets they'll be into a tail that didn't even give a hint of wagging in the first innings, and be in sight of a chaseable target.

I suspect that India will approach this day like a first innings. They'll just play the conditions as well as they can.

England will know that if they can get two or three early, they'll have a good chance at winning this.

Yes, it's nicely poised in Leeds, with WinViz currently putting India slightly ahead.

The calculation has swung around like a James Anderson delivery over the course of the match - Test cricket as it should be.

The visitors resume on 90-2, 96 runs ahead, with KL Rahul on 47 and captain Shubman Gill on six.

A tightrope walker. An athlete's diet. A delicate ecosystem.

And, indeed, the first Test between England and India at Headingley.

All things that are finely balanced.
