Nicely timed by Zak Crawley, not a great delivery from Mohammed Siraj.

Glorious. What a shot that is! That's when Zak Crawley looks so good.

'Glorious!' - Crawley hits Siraj for back to back fours

Crunching drive from Zak Crawley, right out of the middle of the bat, and it bounces just short of the cover fielder. No run.

Four this time. Middled again. On the pads and Crawley cashes in through mid-wicket.

Four more! Wide and a touch short so Crawley helps it up and over gully.

That is the first time that Ben Duckett has ever left the first two balls of a Test innings.

  5. Eng 4-0published at 3 overs

    Target 371

Ben Duckett wasn't going to leave three deliveries in a row and turns the ball around the corner for one to get up and running.

Four dot balls from Jasprit Bumrah to Zak Crawley, who has been extremely watchful so far, follow.

A little under 15 minutes left in the day.

  7. Eng 3-0published at 2.1 overs

    Target 371

Ben Duckett famously does not like to leave the ball.

He's left his first two, both bowled by Jasprit Bumrah, in this innings.

India's fielding needs to be much better than it was in the first innings.

  9. Eng 3-0published at 2 overs

    Target 371

Mohammed Siraj walked off looking suspiciously at his bowling hand after he was caught behind off the glove about 35 minutes ago.

However, he is all good to share the new ball and starts with a maiden to Zak Crawley. Just a hint of movement through the air.

Maybe I'm being naive but I really don't think England are massive underdogs here. Make it through to close without loss and we're on for a belting day tomorrow.

    Mark, London

Fascinating. If England bat sensibly, don't give their wicket away. On this pitch, they win. Come on, England.

  11. Eng 3-0published at 1 over

    Target 371

First ball from Jasprit Bumrah it's harmlessly wide of off stump and left well alone by Zak Crawley.

Three balls later there are big cheers as the England opener flicks through square leg to get off the mark with a two.

A single brings Ben Duckett on strike and he shoulders arms to a ball that comes back sharply and is not far away from that off stump.

It's going to be a big first over for Zak Crawley.

They're very superstitious these opening batsmen, Zak Crawley always opens.

Why give Zak Crawley the first ball against Jasprit Bumrah?

  15. Postpublished at 18:03 British Summer Time

In news that will shock absolutely no one, Jasprit Bumrah has the new ball in hand and will bowl the first over...

I think we'll see a couple of overs from Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and maybe one other.

It's going to be a tricky little period of play.

  18. Postpublished at 18:01 British Summer Time

Jasprit Bumrah and the India bowlers are out warming up and, with no sign of the England openers yet, it looks like it might be a little under half an hour that they have to bat before stumps.

Headingley has been a good chasing ground in recent years and the sun is shining - but this pitch has started to do a bit today.

England require the second highest successful chase in Tests on this ground to win.

India are the overwhelming favourites, according to WinViz.

England are given just a 17% chance of knocking off these runs but it is worth pointing out that chased 378 to win the last home Test they played against India - and, yes, Jasprit Bumrah was playing that one.

If the rain forecast for tomorrow comes through, the draw might jump up a bit from that 5%, too.

  20. England need 371 to winpublished at 17:57 British Summer Time

After all that, England need 371 to win the first Test.

Knowing this side, they will fancy it as well.

They've got bang on half an hour to bat this evening. That's a spell that India will quite fancy with Jasprit Bumrah charging in on a pitch that started to show a bit of up and down throughout the day.

    This should be fun.
