    Thanks, Mike.

Yep, India scored just 63 runs in the session but should they go on to win this Test, they might see it as one of the most important of the match.

England started very well with Brydon Carse, who removed Shubman Gill, particularly impressive and Chris Woakes bowling nicely, too.

As the ball has got that bit older and softer, there has been less lateral movement but the hosts have remained disciplined.

India on top but a couple of quick wickets after lunch and that might soon change...

India didn't score swiftly, but the fact they've only lost one wicket will please them immensely, especially with England's bowlers looking threatening in the first hour.

They lead by 159, if this pair can steadily take them to around 250 then they'll be firm favourites.

England will be rueing Harry Brook dropping KL Rahul on 58 - the India opener is now on 72, while Risbabh Pant has 31.

Still, a couple of wickets after lunch and it's all to play for.

To see how it plays out, here's Sam Drury.

KL Rahul has played very calmy and just eased the pressure down. He's gone about his business nicely and just ticked up the runs.

  4. Lunch - Ind 153-3published at 48 overs

    Lead by 159

Rishabh Pant sends Bashir's third ball out to third for two, bringing up India's 150.

Three singles follow and that's lunch.

India have scored 63 runs this morning and lost one wicket, that of Shubman Gill.

In more recent years, Indian batters haven't coped well against spin bowlers.

We haven't seen the ball turn sharply yet but Shoaib Bashir has been bowling some good lengths, just tempting the batters.

  6. Ind 148-3published at 47 overs

Maiden over for Ben Stokes, bowling to KL Rahul.

The India batter edges Stokes' penultimate delivery onto a part of the body where one might not wish to land a cricket ball, and he drops to the ground again briefly at the end of the over.

We'll have six balls from Shoaib Bashir before lunch.

Rishabh Pant vs Shoaib Bashir, this will be interesting.

  9. Ind 148-3published at 46 overs

Here's Shoaib Bashir to replace Josh Tongue - he bowled one ball this morning to complete an over but then England brought back the quicks.

He concedes two runs from his first full over.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. Arguably the two best bowlers of their generation.

I don’t know about most complete, but I’ve never seen a bowler leave so many batsmen utterly bemused as to how to play him. He doesn’t seem to have the same intimidation factor of some the West Indies and Australia greats, but in terms of his ability to make seasoned Test batsmen look lost at sea, there are none better. Certainly there are no fast bowlers who have a comparable ability. More comparable to the spin bowling greats in that respect.

Jofra Archer's first spell is done. It was four overs that cost 11 runs and did not return a wicket.

There was nothing to get too excited about but the rhythm looked good. There were two maidens, a sharp bouncer and a yorker.

Remember this a game with the Kookaburra ball so you wouldn't expect it to hoop around.

That four from KL Rahul brought up the 50 partnership in 19.1 overs. They're moving along at around 2.6 an over.

Ben Stokes is trying to encourage that drive, there's a bit of swing but KL Rahul manages to find the gap.

@KingMPatel on X: All this talk about Marshall being better than Bumrah - maybe so but he also played against less aggressive batsman, more uneven pitches with no sight screens, tinier bats etc. It's a batsman's game nowadays and Bumrah is thriving within it.

Rishabh Pant has gone back in his shell a little bit.

Josh Tongue is coming in hard at the moment and it seems to be working for him.

KL Rahul has played the ball from a lot deeper in the crease in this Test compared to his previous tours of England.

He's intercepting the ball around 1.5m from the stumps against the quicks compared to 1.8m across the 2018 and 2021 tours.
