  2. NZ 13-1published at 6 overs

    Target 176

Kane Williamson picks up the first four of the innings, driving Brydon Carse gloriously past point.

A single down to third sees him retain the strike.

  3. NZ 8-1published at 5 overs

    Target 176

England's stifling start continues, with just one run coming off Jofra Archer's third over.

He looks pretty happy as he heads back to his fielding position.

Just woken up and tuned in. 176 required from 20 overs seems like a reasonable ask. Oh, wait…

  5. NZ 7-1published at 4 overs

    Target 176

    Oooof, right on the grille.

Brydon Carse lands one on Kane Williamson with a fierce bouncer, although the veteran batter manages to get his bat down to stop the ball rolling into the stumps.

A quick check from the physio, and Williamson is fit to continue.

  6. NZ 4-1published at 3 overs

    Target 176

Six more balls of searing Jofra Archer pace, with some impressive movement off the seam.

Replays show how he set Will Young up in the previous over, starting with three balls on length then nailing the opener's pads with a fuller delivery.

  7. NZ 1-1published at 2 overs

    Target 176

Rachin Ravindra gets New Zealand going from the 11th delivery of the innings, knocking Brydon Carse's delivery into the covers and running a quick single.

Not a bad start from England, but the hosts still need just 3.64 runs an over.

    NZ 0-1

Passing over the stumps - England lose the review.

Still, it's a wicket maiden for Jofra Archer.

  9. England reviewpublished at 1 over

    Two in the over?

England are hunting the wicket of Kane Williamson, with Jofra Archer striking the new batter's back pad as he pushes forward.

Nothing from the umpire, likely because It looks a little high, but England need wickets in short order so they're going to chance a review.

    Young lbw b Archer 0 (NZ 0-1)

Jofra Archer in the action straight away - he dismisses Will Young with his fourth ball!

The England seamer wastes no time cranking up the pace, and he absolutely cuts Young in half with a rapid delivery.

One ball later and he has the wicket, striking the back pad of the New Zealand opener and not even bothering to look round as the umpire's finger goes up - that's bang in front.

    Thanks Matt.

Unsurprisingly WinViz has New Zealand as firm favourites.

If you're continuing to Wellington, Oli, then there's a pie shop in the city that'll make the whole trip worthwhile. Trust me.

The players are back out so it's time for me to hand you to Mike Peter...

It’s a good job New Zealand is such a beautiful country to make this trip down under worthwhile because we have played some bang average cricket in these ODI’s.

The collapse was not as dramatic as in Mount Maunagnui.

Ben Duckett was out for one but Jamie Smith, Jacob Bethell, Joe Root, Harry Brook all made double figures before getting out.

Root was maybe a little unlucky to be caught down the leg side.

Jamie Smith sliced a catch to point aiming somewhere over mid-wicket. Bethell pulled straight to deep square leg. Even Brook slashed a cut to backward point having looked good.

    Sloppy.

I gave England a bit of a pass the other day because conditions in the first ODI were tough. This is far harder to justify.

All over. Michael Bracewell takes a smart catch above his head at mid-wicket as Adil Rashid pulls Balir Tickner.

Tickner finishes with 4-34, England all out for 175 in 36 overs. A mess.

Unnerving perhaps, but no need to panic. It’s early spring in New Zealand, pitches and weather will be ideal for the top six. Geoff Boycott and Graham Gooch will blunt the bowlers and build a solid, if slow foundation...In fact, panic!
