    Brits lbw b Bell 13 (SA 19-1)

    Or not!

The review system is down so Tazmin Brits has to accept the on-field decision.

Perfect response from Bell after an indifferent start from England, but it's a strange shot from Brits. She shuffles across her stumps and misses a slog sweep, which looks like it could be angling down the leg side but crucially, England got the umpire to give it out first time around.

    Breakthrough - maybe.

Lauren Bell gets Tazmin Brits lbw but the opener sends it upstairs.

  3. SA 19-0published at 2 overs

    Target 187

Lauren Filer's extra pace could be a handful on this uneven pitch, which is proven as she beats Brits outside the off stump twice.

But Brits responds perfectly, drilling one through the covers for four before whacking the next ball down the ground for the same result.

Too full from Filer, allowing Brits to put her hands through it.

  4. SA 10-0published at 1.1 overs

    That's unfortunate for Tammy Beaumont.

Tazmin Brits clips one innocuously to her at mid-on, but she is stitched up by some dodgy bounce from the outfield that takes the ball over her shoulder and all the way for four.

    Target 187

Laura Wolvaardt, you are a delight to watch.

Lauren Bell sprays one down the leg side again, which could trouble the South African skipper's concentration. But instead she unveils her trademark cover drive to the next delivery, simply caressing the ball to the boundary in her effortless style.

  6. SA 1-0published at 0.1 overs

    Thanks, Tom.

187 is definitely reachable from South Africa's point of view but they'll have to play smartly to get there because the pitch is providing some uneven bounce.

Lauren Bell starts with a wide sprayed down leg before Laura Wolvaardt solidly defends the first legal ball.

Annerie Dercksen was the pick of the bowlers, helping to mop up the tail to end with figures of 3-16

Marizanne Kapp removed three of England's top four to end with 3-24. That initial burst at the start of the innings could prove pivotal in the match.

Nonkululeko Mlaba's slow, loopy left-armers in the middle of the innings brought 2-47.

    Then, the recovery.

Charlie Dean played excellently, equalling her career-best score of 47 to edge England towards 150. She was ably supported by Sophie Ecclestone, who showed great restraint in her 17 from 27 balls.

Ecclestone was eventually dismissed thanks to a stunning catch by Nadine de Klerk at point, with Laurens Filer and Bell falling in quick succession.

    How about a quick recap?

After winning the toss and choosing to bat England made a poor start, with Marizanne Kapp removing Tammy Beaumont, Sophia Dunkley and Nat Sciver-Brunt - the latter for a golden duck - to leave them reeling on 29-3.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Amy Jones and Alice Capsey then fell for a combined 40 runs. Heather Knight showed some resistance, but when she was trapped lbw by Nonkululeko Mlaba for 40 the tourists were 106-7.

The delivery that bowled Lauren Filer pitched at 10.6m from the stumps - over halfway down. It struck the stumps just 0.49m above the ground.

All other deliveries this innings pitching over 10m from the stumps were reaching the stumps at 1.30m or higher. Variable bounce really starting to play a part on this track. It'll be tough to bat on second innings.

That is certainly a below-par total from England, but it would have been a lot worse had it not been for that 79-run partnership between Charlie Dean and Sophie Ecclestone.

South Africa need 187 at 3.74 runs an over. It sounds relatively straightforward but the pitch has shown signs of some turn and uneven bounce.

A few early wickets could make things interesting.

England have fallen way below par here. The re-building period in the middle was a solid effort but finishing 12 overs short of their innings is not good.

A positive is that the pitch has deteriorated quickly so they will be taking that into South Africa's innings.

A horrible mix-up. England have fallen away in a heap!

Bell run out (Luus) 0 (Eng 186)

    Jinxed it again, sorry.

It is a shambolic way of ending the innings as Lauren Bell pushes the ball into the leg-side, thinks about the run, hesitates, before eventually setting off.

But by that point the ball had been slung back to Sune Luus, who had the easy task of whipping off the bails with Bell well, well short of the crease.

That was a shame for Lauren Filer. She played the right shot and tried to drag it leg-side but it has shot through to the wickets. The last few overs, so many balls have just skidded through and South Africa will be keeping their eye on that.

Number 11 Lauren Bell joins Charlie Dean and survives her first ball.

Bell just needs to hang around and let Dean do her stuff at the other end.

  18. wicket

    Filer b Dercksen 1 (Eng 185-9)

Lauren Filer is a little unlucky there as she gets another ball from Annerie Dercksen that keeps very low.

She is on the back foot attempting to push into the onside, but the ball escapes under her bat and cannons into the stumps.

  19. Eng 179-8published at 37 overs

Lauren Filer joins Charlie Dean in the middle as Sune Luus returns to the attack. She will very much play the support role, with Dean looking in excellent touch.

Her first delivery keeps extremely low and runs away to fine leg for three runs. Had that been on target Dean might have been done for there.

Sophie Ecclestone could have left that ball any day of the week. She has tried to play it too correctly, to control it and roll her wrists over it slightly. If she had just guided it upwards, she would have been fine.
