Amy Jones in ODIs by year since 2019:

    • 2019: 444 runs (36 avg, 97 SR)
    • 2021: 230 runs (29 avg, 81 SR)

    • 2023: 54 runs (14 avg, 96 SR)
    • 2024: 318 runs (64 avg, 103 SR)

Jones is having her best year in ODI's with the bat in the last five years, and her 11 year ODI career to date.

  2. Eng 72-4published at 16 overs

England are starting to turn the tide.

Nine runs come from Nonkululeko Mlaba's first over, who could be struggling after turning her ankle earlier in the innings and having to spend some time off the field.

England would not have expected to be in this position. But, they haven't played ODI cricket in a long time so I wouldn't be surprised if they lose this game. There's very few players who are experts in all three formats.

  4. Eng 68-4published at 15 overs

Amy Jones continues her positivity after the drinks' break as she drives Nadine de Klerk through the covers for four.

South Africa are still confident that they can take wickets with a full length, which does bring the risk of being driven at times.

What a start for South Africa and what a horrible, ugly one for England. I had a feeling that Kapp would be fired up for this match. England are in a hole, and they've been there before, but this is going to take some careful batting, and someone to stay in with Heather Knight.

There has been a little bit of movement in South Africa's bowling, some swing and some keeping low. They haven't given away as many freebies today, everything has been tight so England's batters need to take everything they can.

  7. Eng 61-4published at 14 overs

Lovely shot from Amy Jones, striking a much-needed boundary down the ground as Ayanda Hlubi goes too straight.

The bowler then over-corrects with a shorter delivery which Jones thumps to deep square leg with disdain. Hlubi is the weak link in South Africa's attack and England are making the most of it so far.

  8. Eng 53-4published at 13 overs

Another maiden from Nadine de Klerk.

She has figures of 1-8 from her three overs so far and has given South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt priceless control.

  9. Eng 53-4published at 12 overs

A quiet over from England as Amy Jones and Heather Knight look to rebuild.

It's not the easiest pitch to bat on, so if England can play sensibly and get to 200, they'll be in the game. However, "sensibly" is the key word there and something we haven't seen too often in recent times.

South Africa are on the push now, they will have a lot of confidence with four wickets taken. The ball is still shaping well and isn't as scabrous as you would expect at this point.

  11. Eng 50-4published at 11 overs

Great over from Nadine de Klerk to follow the powerplay.

Amy Jones sees off the final five balls of the over, and it's a wicket maiden. The pitch is quite slow and England haven't adapted well, getting trapped on the crease too often.

This has not gone according to plan for England. There is a theme with the dismissals, all of the batters seem to have gotten stuck in the crease and have not been overly decisive with their footwork.

    Wyatt-Hodge lbw b De Klerk 11 (Eng 50-4)

Another lbw review, another one lost.

England are in a pickle. Danni Wyatt-Hodge misses a nip-backer from Nadine de Klerk and is pinned in front, replays showing the ball to be hitting middle and leg.

Just as England were rebuilding, South Africa strike at the perfect moment.

  14. England reviewpublished at 10.1 overs

    Another nervous wait for England.

They've already wasted one review when Nat Sciver-Brunt was plumb lbw. This time, Danni Wyatt-Hodge is also given out the same way...

Heather Knight sometimes gets over-looked because we are so used to seeing her in this side. She is a very fluent player when she is in-touch and is arguably England's best batter with Nat Sciver-Brunt.

  16. Eng 50-3published at 10 overs

Ayanda Hlubi has got a really lovely, strong action and with more exposure at this level, looks like she will be a good prospect.

She still looks quite nervous but there are good signs, though she goes a little too full to Heather Knight and the England captain helps herself to back-to-back boundaries to end the powerplay on a positive note.

England win 80% of games when Nat Sciver-Brunt passes 50.

In the games when she scores below 50, that win percentage falls to just 61%.

It's such a fast outfield here in Kimberley. They can't water the pitches which makes it so dry and quick and this will have influenced Knight's decision to bat first.

  19. Eng 39-3published at 9 overs

This is testing Danni Wyatt-Hodge's natural instinct to be aggressive, as Nadine de Klerk replaces Kapp.

But she's in such good form, driving twice through the covers for four to ease the pressure on England.

Frustration for South Africa, releasing some of the momentum they'd built in the previous overs.

What a disgraceful waste of a review by NSB, even Jonny Bairstow wouldn’t have reviewed that. Shows a lack of respect to other batters who may need that review later.
