  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:08 British Summer Time

    Potts lbw b Lawrence 23 (Surrey 820-9 dec v Durham 330-8)

Dan Lawrence finally gets his man!

The off-spinner produces a ball that goes on and strikes Matthew Potts on the pad - and that breaks this stubborn eighth-wicket partnership of 52 with Graham Clark.

Daniel Hogg is the new man in for Durham, with 7.3 overs left tonight.

  2. dropped catch

Guest dropped on 14published at 18:05 British Summer Time

Derbyshire 120-3 - target 513 to beat Lancs

Another chance put down by Lancashire as Brooke Guest shapes to carve Jimmy Anderson away into the off-side, only to flash a sternum-high edge to slip where the chance goes down.

Both Guest and Wayne Madsen have not been given another life.

Lancashire would feel much better going in with five down at stumps.

  3. Close of play at Tauntonpublished at 18:04 British Summer Time

    Somerset 379 & 4-1 v Nottinghamshire 509

Somerset send out Matt Henry as a nightwatchman with Tom Kohler-Cadmore for the one over they must face before stumps.

Spinner Liam Patterson-White is handed the ball and Henry drives his first ball for four, before being beaten by one which turns sharply.

The gamble does not pay off for Somerset as Henry chops the final ball of the day's play into his stumps - and they will start day three 126 behind with nine wickets standing.

Jack Haynes made a superb 157 during the Notts first innings, while England spinner Jack Leach took 6-121 for the home side.

  4. Postpublished at 18:03 British Summer Time

    Hampshire 221 & 80-3 f/o v Worcestershire 679-7 dec

Jake Libby didn't fancy a second over and so Adam Finch is back on, with figures of 2-4 from five overs.

He gets one to nip back at Ben Brown who just about manages to get his bat out of the way.

He and Tilak Varma have produced two scoring shots in the past 30 deliveries.

  5. Postpublished at 18:02 British Summer Time

    Surrey 820-9 dec v Durham 328-7

Lovely stroke by Matthew Potts, steering Dan Lawrence through the covers for four to advance to 22.

Potts survived another closer call in the off-spinner's previous over, with a sharp edge to slip put down by Rory Burns.

For now, though, Potts and Graham Clark, who has 25, refuse to be parted. Nine overs for Surrey to change that situation tonight.

  6. Postpublished at 18:00 British Summer Time

Derbyshire 115-3- target 513 to beat Lancs

Brooke Guest had scored just five runs from 24 balls before facing the final ball of Jimmy Anderson's 10th over but produces a lovely back-foot punch past point to the boundary.

It means Derbyshire's required runs is below the psychological barrier of 400... 399 needed. Will that be important? Who knows.

They are scoring at just under three an over but only require just under four an over, weather permitting tomorrow, of course.

  7. Postpublished at 17:59 British Summer Time

    Yorks 459 v Essex 368 & 19-2

Ben Coad is still steaming in and giving nothing away, but for now Dean Elgar and Jordan Cox are repelling whatever Yorkshire can hurl in their direction.

The home side would love to send at least one of the Essex pair packing in the five overs that remain tonight.

Cox, who has seven, edged Coad just now but it was a controlled shot and the ball fell short of the close fielders.

  8. 'A great delivery from Parkinson'published at 17:58 British Summer Time

    Hampshire 221 & 73-3 f/o v Worcestershire 679-7 dec

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

It was a great ball from Callum Parkinson, Nick Gubbins not quite sure what the ball was going to do.

    Great delivery.

It's not been an easy for Gubbins. Nine in this innings and just the 13 yesterday.

  9. Postpublished at 17:54 British Summer Time

    Sussex 533 v Warwickshire 415 & 56-1

Ollie Robinson is in the eighth over of his spell but has just come close again, as Tom Latham chops down into the ground with the ball dropping across his stumps and trickling into the leg side.

He could easily have had three or four wickets by now, as it is he has the only one to fall.

Warwickshire are within 62 of parity.

  10. Postpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time

    Hampshire 221 & 79-3 f/o v Worcestershire 679-7 dec

Jake Libby has won the toss, scored an unbeaten double century, and now fancies a wicket.

He's been on the field for every ball of this match but takes it for the first time to support his weary troops with his occasional off-spin.

Tilak Varma welcomes him to the attack with a towering straight six from his third delivery.

Seven overs remaining in the day - they might be dominated by spin.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:51 British Summer Time

    Walker c Geddes b Sharma 2 (Leics 205 & 140-8 v Middx 534)

Naavya Sharma, Middlesex (R)Image source, Rex Features

Another for Naavya Sharma and Middlesex are just two wickets away from an innings win now.

Roman Walker, who batted well for an unbeaten 40 in the Foxes' first innings, is out cheaply this time as he tries to fend Sharma off but gives Ben Geddes a looping catch at short square leg.

  12. Nottinghamshire all outpublished at 17:51 British Summer Time

    Somerset 379 v Notts 509

And quick as that, the Notts innings comes to a sudden end.

Jack Leach finishes with 6-121 as he has Lyndon James caught at slip by Craig Overton for 66, made from 117 balls.

The lead is 130 and Somerset are now going to face a tense - but thankfully brief - single-over mini-session before the close.

  13. dropped catch

Dropped catch at the Kia Ovalpublished at 17:49 British Summer Time

    Surrey 820-9 dec v Durham 317-7

Surrey thought they'd captured the eighth Durham wicket just now as Matthew Potts steered Tom Lawes towards third slip - but the diving Dan Lawrence was unable to hang on.

Potts has batted well for his 17 and he and Graham Clark are frustrating Surrey so far in this post-tea session.

  14. 50 runs

for Justin Broadpublished at 17:49 British Summer Time

    Kent 566-8 dec v Northants 533-6

The 50s keep on coming at Canterbury.

Justin Broad drives Nathan Gilchrist for four to reach his from just 49 balls faced - and adds another boundary in the over for good measure.

Broad and Saif Zaib also have a century partnership.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:46 British Summer Time

    Gubbins b Parkinson 9 (Hampshire 221 & 73-3 f/o v Worcestershire 679-7 dec)

What a ball from Callum Parkinson...

Nick Gubbins comes forward to defend but the spinner gets it to turn past his blade and clatter middle and off, sending the on-loan bowler wheeling away in celebration.

Ben Brown is the next batter in the firing line, joining Tilak Varma with their side 385 behind.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:45 British Summer Time

    Cox c De Caires b Sharma 28 (Leics 205 & 138-7 v Middx 534)

Teenage seamer Naavya Sharma took four wickets in next to no time last night - and now he's broken this stubborn Leicestershire partnership to edge Middlesex nearer to victory.

Ben Cox is caught behind square on the leg side after adding 58 for the seventh wicket with Logan van Beek.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 162.4 overs

    Ahmed c Leach b Vaughan 0 (Somerset 379 v Notts 509-9)

    Off-spinner outfoxed by off-spinner.

Farhan Ahmed chips the fourth delivery of his innings to Jack Leach at mid-wicket, giving Archie Vaughan his third success.

Vaughan is in his 39th over and now has 3-111.

  18. Postpublished at 17:44 British Summer Time

Derbyshire 98-3 - target 513 to beat Lancs

Lancashire in decent spirits in the field.

Michael Jones has been fielding at deep square leg but has been guilty of a couple of errant throws to keeper Matty Hurst, which drew an icy stare from skipper Jimmy Anderson.

Wayne Madsen gets the ball away to Jones off Tom Bailey and this time Jones perovides a perfect throw to the stumps which draws playful applause from his teammates.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:42 British Summer Time

    Westley c Bairstow b Coad 0 (Yorks 459 v Essex 368 & 6-2)

Ben Coad, YorkshireImage source, Rex Features

Essex are under enormous pressure now...

Ben Coad has his second wicket as Tom Westley prods one off his hip and glances it through to Jonny Bairstow.

The visiting captain is on his way for a duck, to be replaced by Jordan Cox. He and Dean Elgar have another 9.3 overs to negotiate tonight.

  20. Postpublished at 17:41 British Summer Time

    Sussex 533 v Warwickshire 415 & 47-1

Oof, Ollie Robinson so close to another.

He bends his back to get the ball to spit up at Alex Davies who tries to get out of the way but the ball crashes off the shoulder of the bat and loops over the slips to run away for four.

Davies then moves to 23* from the next delivery with an uppish shot through midwicket which narrowly evades a fielder on its way to the fence.

The Bears deficit is down to 71.
