  1. Tea at the Kia Ovalpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 30 June

    Surrey 803-8 v Durham

Out of nowhere, Will Rhodes has three wickets!

The medium-pacer strikes again in the final over before tea as Tom Lawes moves across his stumps and is trapped in front.

The players go off - and we wait to see whether it'll be the Durham or Surrey fielders emerging after the interval.

  2. 50 runs

for Martin Anderssonpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 30 June

    Derbyshire 236-6 v Lancashire 367

Derbyshire all-rounder Martin Andersson is playing an important innings as his side chase parity, at least, against Lancashire at Chesterfield.

He has struck 11 fours in his total of 70 and has brought the deficit down to 130, with support from Zak Chappell (20*) who replaced Anuj Dal.

Plenty to ponder for red Rose skipper Jimmy Anderson.

  3. 'No fuss and no bother from Jacks'published at 15:44 British Summer Time 30 June

    Surrey 801-7 v Durham

    Will Jacks has cruised that.

I think as all eyes were on Dom Sibley, we suddenly looked up and Jacks was on 85.

He's literally just gone about it with no fuss and no bother.

It's been a nice innings from Jacks.

  4. Tea at Southamptonpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 30 June

    Hampshire v Worcestershire 679-7

Will that be it? Will Jake Libby declare?

He's carried his bat for more than 10 hours and 20 minutes, faced 437 balls and has a career best 228*.

Tom Taylor (27*) has helped him steer the Pears to 679-7 after five sessions, the third highest total in club history and their best in 18 years.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 30 June

    Blake c & b Ackermann 4 (Surrey 800-7 v Durham)

Josh Blake's brief part in this mammoth Surrey total comes to an end as he chips tamely back into the hands of Colin Ackermann.

Tom Lawes emerges to replace him at the crease.

  6. 'Hughes has put bat to ball'published at 15:42 British Summer Time 30 June

    Sussex 181-2 v Warwickshire 415

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A super knock by Daniel Hughes.

He's certainly put bat to ball. He hit the first ball of the innings for four when he drilled Chris Rushworth down the ground.

It's come in quick time as well.

  7. 100 runs

for Will Jackspublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 30 June

    Surrey 799-6 v Durham

Will Jacks becomes the fourth player to pass three figures in this Surrey innings, following Dom Sibley, Sam Curran and Dan Lawrence.

He pulls Colin Ackermann to the midwicket fence to raise his ton from 85 balls. It's the fourth time he's posted 100 in first-class cricket.

Still 11 balls until tea if they want to have a dart at that record total?

  8. 100 runs

for Daniel Hughespublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 30 June

    Sussex 181-2 v Warwickshire 415

Daniel Hughes battingImage source, Rex Features

Daniel Hughes brings up the 11th first class century of his career, and first of the season, from 136 balls with his 20th boundary, swivelling to pull Ethan Bamber to the rope at deep backward square leg.

The Australian is putting his side into a strong position, with James Coles playing a supporting role at present.

  9. Tea at Leicesterpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 30 June

    Leics v Middx 534

Middlesex's lengthy first innings finally comes to a close as Liam Trevaskis removes last man Noah Cornwell without scoring.

Trevaskis finishes with three wickets, matching the returns of Roman Walker and Ben Green after the leg breaks of Rishi Patel finally accounted for Ben Geddes, for a career-high 137.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 30 June

    Surrey 785-6 v Durham

Maybe Jordan Clark had his eye on a quickfire 50 - he'd just slammed Will Rhodes for six and four from the two previous deliveries and went for another big shot off the next.

But it was third time unlucky for Clark, whose skier gave Rhodes a routine catch and he departs after making 24 from 16 balls.

Still no declaration, although we have just four overs scheduled until tea - so it might come then.

  11. Kent declare - tea is takenpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 30 June

    Kent 566-8 dec v Northants

Daniel Bell-Drummond decided enough is finally enough as Northants' suffering in the field comes to an end following the dimissal of Matt Parkinson.

He is lbw to fellow leggie Calvin Harrison, who has 2-124 from 32.5 overs - but paceman Liam Guthrie returns the best figures of 3-92.

Bell-Drummond himself made 158 off 275 balls, sharing a sixth-wicket stand of 206 with Harry Finch.

He was caught behind off Saif Zaib and Finch followed for 118 in the next over.

  12. 'Important for Somerset'published at 15:30 British Summer Time 30 June

    Somerset 379 v Notts 104-2

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Radio Somerset

Somerset needed that wicket because it was just looking a little bit too cruisy for the Notts batters.

An important breakthrough but there's still a long way to go.

Freddie McCann just misjudged the defensive shot as he tried to just play it into the ground.

Important for Somerset because they were just nibbling away nicely at that lead.

Notts are still only two wickets down and have more than 100 runs on the board so they will be pretty happy with their position at this point.

  13. 'Notts have to keep concentration'published at 15:27 British Summer Time 30 June

    Somerset 379 v Notts 104-2

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Notts have just got to keep their concentration like Somerset did.

The first obstacle is the next nine overs to be negotiated. Get through to tea just one down, refresh, regroup and go again.

They know that they have to bat long and bat big in the first innings whatever the way the game manifests itself from then on in days three and four.

They know they've got to get good runs otherwise they are up against it.

  14. Career best 216* for Jake Libbypublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 30 June

    Hampshire v Worcestershire 653-7

... brought up in 10 hours and one minute off Liam Dawson, beating his 215 at Sussex in September 2022.

    An incredible effort.

  15. Latest from Cardiffpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 30 June

    Glamorgan 83-2 v Gloucestershire 380

Archie Bailey did his bit with the bat for Gloucestershire earlier today and now he has a wicket as well.

It's not a great shot by Asa Tribe, played too far away from the body, and he edges to the keeper, departing for 35.

  16. Postpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 30 June

    Surrey 767-5 v Durham

Two remaining statistical questions as regards this Surrey innings, with Rory Burns surely weighing up a declaration at some point in the near future.

Will he give Will Jacks time to score the 15 he needs to become Surrey's fourth centurion of the innings? Yes, presumably.

Then will he have one eye on the record books - and let the batters overtake Surrey's record total of 811 from 126 years ago? They're not far away...

  17. 650 up for Pearspublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 30 June

    Hampshire v Worcestershire 652-7

A glorious stroke from Tom Taylor sends Tilak Varma to the rope at long off to take the Pears past 650 and take this innings up to the fifth highest in club history.

Their best was 701-6d against Surrey at New Road 18 years ago. It's in their sights...

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 30.1 overs

    McCann c Rew b Vaughan 20 (Somerset 379 v Notts 104-2)

Somerset now have Archie Vaughan in the attack and he strikes with the first ball of his second over.

It's a tentative shot by Freddie McCann and James Rew takes the catch behind the stumps.

McCann put on 66 with Ben Slater, who has now been joined by Joe Clarke.

  19. Two of the greatspublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 30 June

Graham Gooch and Geoffrey Boycott were once England team-mates. Goochy was at Clifton Park, York yesterday and it's great to see 'Sir Geoffrey' there as well today following his most recent health issues. When GB speaks, people listen!

  20. Postpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 30 June

    Sussex 168-2 v Warwickshire 415

Daniel Hughes passes 90 with his 18th four, again off Ethan Bamber, who has struggled to his his straps from the first ball of an over.

The run rate has come down this afternoon but the hosts will fancy their chances of a at least a few batting points before stumps at this rate.
