This is exactly the performance England were looking for when they chose to bowl at the toss.

They knew they had to get themselves back into this series and will feel very confident now going into their innings.

  2. wicket

WICKET Hlubi b Ecclestone 6published at 31.3 overs

    SA 135

Sophie Ecclestone rocks back leg stump, Ayanda Hlubi has to go, and South Africa are all out for just 135.

A superb bowling performance from the visitors.

Lauren Filer set the tone, Charlie Dean ripped through the middle order with a hat-trick, and Sophie Ecclestone also chipped in with three scalps.

  3. SA 133-9published at 31 mins

Hlubi keeps the strike again with a single off the last ball of Charlie Dean's 10th over.

She finishes with figures of 4-45.

  4. SA 132-8published at 30.3 overs

Ayanda Hlubi has a look at Charlie Dean for a couple of deliveries before slapping on down the ground for four.

It's agricultural, but effective. Get her up the order.

  5. SA 128-9published at 30 overs

Number 11 Ayanda Hlubi takes a single into the leg side, and keeps the strike.

An excellent catch at short-leg. I was pleased to see that England persevere with that position as they need to work on finishing off tail-end batters more quickly. Lauren Filer could have been brought back an over or two earlier to do that.

England will be pleased with how things have worked out now.

  7. wicket

WICKET Tryon c Beaumont b Ecclestone 45published at 29.1 overs

    SA 127-9

Brilliant hands from Tammy Beaumont at short-leg, and Chloe Tryon has to go.

It's a flat delivery from Sophie Ecclestone, Tryone works it off her pads and Beaumont snaffles it high to her left.

A wonderful catch, and South Africa are nine down.

  8. Not outpublished at 29 overs

    SA 126-8

Missing leg entirely on this occasion.

    England lose a review.

    SA 126-8

Might this be Charlie Dean's fifth?

England go upstairs again, but it could well be sliding down again...

  10. Not outpublished at 28.1 overs

    SA 122-8

It was close, but umpire's call on leg stump means it remains not out.

    Charlie Dean can't believe it.

  11. Umpire reviewpublished at 28.1 overs

    SA 122-8

    Has Charlie Dean got five?

Heather Knight reviews after the England spinner slides one onto Chloe Tryon's pads, and it's given not out.

    Looks close...

England have made a few mistakes here. They could have brought the square-leg fielder up inside the ring to not give Tryon an easy single and allow her to face Sophie Ecclestone again, instead of Khaka being on strike.

Those little things can really impact the game.

  13. SA 121-8published at 27.3 overs

Chloe Tryon swings Sophie Ecclestone through midwicket for another boundary.

She moves to 40 from 41 deliveries and is giving the home crowd something to cheer about here.

  14. SA 115-8published at 26.4 overs

    Four more.

A full delivery from Lauren Filer, and Chloe Tryon punches through the covers to the boundary.

    Tash Farrant
England bowler on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

England may have to let Chloe Tryon get a few boundaries here, but it will be worth it for more chance to get her off strike and give Filer a go at the tail-enders.

If England can get the wicket of Tryon, they are basically home and dry.

  16. SA 111-8published at 26.2 overs

Chloe Tryon deftly guides Lauren Filer down to third for successive boundaries, using the pace on offer.

  17. SA 103-8published at 26 overs

Thanks Ffion. I'll try to live up to the wicket-taking pace you've set.

Nothing as of yet, though. Chloe Tryon takes a single off the fourth ball of Sophie Ecclestone's over and Ayabonga Khaka stoutly defends the final two balls.

The lower-order do not like the pace of Lauren Filer at all. That ball was full, fast and straight and England need to keep backing Filer, because the tail of the batting will continue to struggle against her.

  19. SA 102-8published at 25 overs

South Africa are halfway through their innings but it's going to take something miraculous for this to go the full 50 overs.

England, unsurprisingly, are absolutely buzzing around in the field.

This is my cue to hand over to George O'Neill to see how quickly England can take the final two wickets.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 24.5 overs

    Mlaba b Filer 4 (SA 102-8)

    And it works a treat!

Lauren Filer executes her yorker to the lower order batter Mlaba, who backs away and the ball ricochets off her pads and on to the stumps.

A third wicket for Filer, all three of them bowled to demonstrate the effectiveness of her added pace in England's attack.
