I'm pleased with the changes - I was surprised that Kate Cross was left out to begin with. It's also great to see they have kept Lauren Filer in as she brings something extra with her pace.

England are stronger with the bat when they are chasing a total down with control so it seems in their favour.

  3. SA 2-0published at 1 over

    Oooh, close!

Laura Wolvaardt almost drags one on to her stumps, just about getting away with it as the openers scamper a single to get off the mark.

It's Wolvaardt's 100th ODI today at just 25 years of age. She is averaging over 100 in the format this year as well, with a career-average of just over 50 which is absolutely incredible. She steered South Africa to victory with a patient half-century in the first ODI and does all that while leading the side, too!

  4. SA 0-0published at 0.1 overs

Kate Cross, who curiously missed the first ODI, is straight back into the action with the first ball of the game.

Laura Wolvaardt defends solidly as a strong breeze whips across the ground.

Speaking of the Ashes, Australia are sending a pretty strong message in their ongoing series against India with a 122-run victory in the second ODI.

The world champions are without captain Alyssa Healy for the ODIs, and she was replaced by 21-year-old opener Georgia Voll. Naturally, Voll made 101 from 87 balls in her second international outing while all-rounder Ellyse Perry made 105 (75).

Phoebe Litchfield and Beth Mooney also chipped in with half-centuries in Australia's whopping 371-8, their highest ODI total against India, who had no answers with the ball and dropped a few crucial catches.

The visitors were then bowled out for 249 in reply, with opener Richa Ghosh top-scoring with 54 and all-rounder Annabel Sutherland taking 4-39 for Australia.

When South Africa got Kapp and Khaka back in their side for the first ODI, they were so much stronger, especially with the new ball and England didn't have the answers to it.

This feels like a big game for England, especially with the Ashes on the horizon.

So a couple of team changes from England's point of view, with Maia Bouchier back at the top of the order after injuring her neck on Wednesday and the experienced Kate Cross comes in for Lauren Bell.

South Africa are unchanged. The hosts are playing in a special black kit today as part of Black Day, the campaign to fight against gender-based violence in the country. It is the fourth edition of this day in South African cricket and England are also supporting their cause by wearing black armbands.

  9. England win the toss and bowlpublished at 07:49 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December

After being bowled out for 186 in the series opener, Heather Knight chooses to bowl first today instead.

It was scorching hot in Kimberley, with temperatures in the high 30s, but it's a much more pleasant 27 degrees Celsius over in Durban. I promise not one bit of me is jealous, not one bit.
