  1. Until tomorrow, good night!published at 19:30 British Summer Time 4 May

What a day of Championship cricket.

We may only have had five matches, but 10 matches worth of drama was packed in as Somerset edged to a brilliant three-wicket win over Essex late on day two.

Kent will be hoping to wrap up their first win of the season on day three, while Joe Root is just eight runs away from yet another first-class ton.

Plenty more to play for on Sunday - so why not join us?

We'll be back, right here, in time for the 11am starts. Good evening!

  3. 'Kent have been terrific'published at 19:25 British Summer Time 4 May

    Close: Lancs 92 & 119-4 v Kent 261

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

It's been a brilliant couple of days for Kent. They've been absolutely terrific.

The recovery with the bat - to get to 260 and then they've bowled magnificently to the conditions.

And Lancashire kind of just melted away - all out inside 20 overs.

Well done to Kent, a wonderful days cricket for them and they've got a great chance of wrapping up a brilliant win tomorrow.

  4. Close of play at Old Traffordpublished at 19:24 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lancs 92 & 119-4 v Kent 261

Matt Parkinson to bowl the last over of the day. Can he winkle one more out?

He gets side spin with his first delivery which causes Tom Bruce a little discomfort.

Bruce scurries a two off the next and then safely negotiates the rest of the over without further runs.

It brings the Lancashire deficit down to 50, but with only six wickets in hand to make Kent bat again.

It's been overwhelmingly Kent's day after they moved their first innings score to 261 this morning through Joey Evison's unbeaten 71.

Nathan Gilchrist then took six wickets to tumble the hosts out for 92 in just 30 overs.

Lancashire Josh Bohannon's poor shot sparked another collapse as three wickets fell for as many runs.

  5. 'A thrilling victory for Somerset'published at 19:19 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 128 & 170-7 v Essex 156 & 138

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

It's been too close for comfort but in the end it's a thrilling victory for Somerset which nets them 19 points.

Essex will go back to Chelmsford with a haul of just three.

A victory against Essex always has a special savour for Somerset and they will really enjoy this win here in two days.

It's been a tremendous performance from the Somerset bowlers.

This game has been played in a very good spirit despite the history between these two sides in recent years.

Somerset have had their colours lowered on crucial occasions by Essex so this will be a particularly sweet victory - their first over Essex since 2018.

This win puts Somerset right back in the race for the County Championship.

  6. Close of play at Lord'spublished at 19:14 British Summer Time 4 May

    Middlesex 64-1 v Leics 306

Peter Handscomb's century rescued Leicestershire from a precarious position at Lord's and helped them to two batting points.

He received support from Rehan Ahmed (42) and Tom Scriven (46) down the order.

In reply Middlesex have made a nice start to the reply with Sam Robson (28) and Holden (26) undefeated at stumps, 242 runs behind.

  7. Close of play at Derbypublished at 19:12 British Summer Time 4 May

    Derbys 246 v Sussex 357-5

Sussex have moved into an ominous position at Derby, closing 111 ahead with five first-class wickets still in the bag.

Cheteshwar Pujara followed up half-centuries from Tom Alsop (64) and Tom Haines (54) with an unbeaten century, reaching stumps on 104.

It was the India batter's 64th, yes 64th, first-class century and came off 158 balls.

  8. wicket

WICKET Williams b Gilchrist 1published at 19:01 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lancs 92 & 104-4 v Kent 261

    The nightwatchman goes.

Will Williams is sent out to see out play for day two, but the move falls apart as he falls second ball.

He fails to get his bat down on a full quicker ball from Nathan Gilchrist and is summarily yorked.

That's an eighth of the match (and Saturday) for Gilchrist.

Lancashire have lost three wickets for three runs and still need 65 more to avoid an innings defeat.

  9. Close of play at Headingleypublished at 19:00 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire 295-2 v Glamorgan 221

Joe Root will need to wait a little while longer for his 45th first-class century as bad light forces an early close. He's made a well-paced 92 off 90 balls.

Finlay Bean is 10 short of 150, but has already surpassed his previous high first-class score of 135.

    Take a bow Fin.

Yorkshire have raced into a 74-run lead and are in command.

  10. wicket

WICKET Jennings st Finch b Parkinson 40published at 18:53 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lancs 92 & 103-3 v Kent 261

    Unbelievable work from Harry Finch!

The Kent wicketkeeper shows incredible athleticism to remove captain Keaton Jennings for 40 and land a huge blow on Lancashire's ailing hopes.

Jennings comes down the pitch to Matt Parkinson but it spins past his bat down the legside.

Finch re-adjusts brilliantly to retrieve the ball down low, move it into his right hand and whip the bails off before Jennings can recover his ground.

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

    Well batted Yorkshire.

Glamorgan are going to have to regroup and work out how to salvage some pride out of this match.

Finlay Bean and Joe Root have put Glamorgan to the sword in this evening session.

They're off for bad light at the moment and that maybe the end of play for today.

    Five needed.

  19. Bad light stops play at Headingleypublished at 18:31 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire 295-2 v Glamorgan 221

The light hasn't been great all day, but the umpires have decided the floodlights are having too much influence.

Joe Root is eight short of his 45th first-class ton, while Finlay Bean is unbeaten on a magnificent 140.

Their partnership is worth 201. And counting.

  20. 'Rew never looked comfortable'published at 18:28 British Summer Time 4 May

Very disappointing from James Rew, he never looked comfortable.

    Time for a captain's innings.
