  1. 50 up for Somersetpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 128 & 61-0 v Essex 156 & 138 - Target: 167

Sean Dickson joins the party as he drives hard for four from Shane Snater's first ball after tea.

It takes the Somerset openers to the fifty partnership

Then next ball he creates the angle to climb into Snater's next ball and smashes it for a mighty six!

    That's one way to chase!

He then takes a three from the fifth ball before Matt Renshaw takes a single.

That's 14 from the over. Runs required down to 106.

  2. 'Root scampers out towards the middle'published at 16:26 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire 106-2 v Glamorgan 221

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

The home county are on top as Joe Root scampers out towards the middle, he's obviously keen to get down to business followed by his partner Finlay Bean.

The Glamorgan side are in a huddle and receive a pep talk from Sam Northeast because they really need to win this session well to stay in the match.

  3. Pay restarts at Tauntonpublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 128 & 47-0 v Essex 156 & 138 - Target: 167

Somerset need 122 more runs to seal victory in the evening session and Matt Renshaw dabs a single to the first ball after tea from Sam Cook.

Cook then gets some exaggerated movement, but unfortunately for him after it had passed the off stump.

Sean Dickson gets up and running with a single. 120 needed.

  4. Play restarts at Old Traffordpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lancs 49-7 v Kent 261

Where to go from here for Lancashire?

Tom Bailey faces the first ball after tea from Grant Stewart who has yet to join the party with wickets.

Bailey takes a single from the final ball to retain the strike.

  5. 'Easily Kent's best session of the season so far'published at 16:21 British Summer Time 4 May

    Tea: Lancs 48-7 v Kent 261

    Ben Watts
    BBC Radio Kent

Who saw that coming from the visitors?! Easily Kent's best session of the season so far, thanks to bowlers Wes Agar (3-12) and Nathan Gilchrist (4-15).

The strapping Australian caused problems with his extra pace. He got Keaton Jennings out with a beauty that bounced and nipped away.

As for Gilchrist, who struggled for form due to injuries last season, he looked back to his very best in that spell.

With cloudy skies and the floodlights on, Kent have taken full advantage of the conditions, to back up Joey Evison's brilliant effort (71*) with that bat.

    Tea: Derbyshire 248 v Sussex 196-3

A good session for Sussex adding 126 in 33 overs for the loss of Haines and Alsop.

Cheteshwar Pujara has carried on the momentum, reaching tea ominously 40 not out, and with another 38 overs to be bowled today Sussex will be hopeful of building a sizeable lead by stumps.

Derbyshire have stuck to their task with some excellent ground fielding, but their first innings total of 246 looks below par on what is a good batting surface.

  8. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 128 & 45-0 v Essex 156 & 138 - Target: 167

Shane Snater to bowl the last over before tea and it costs a single.

In a quite remarkable session, Somerset have taken the remaining six Essex wickets, the final four costing just one run to set up a run chase of 167.

And it's been an impressive start from Matt Renshaw (21) and Sean Dickson (19) who have looked on top of Essex strike bowlers Sam Cook and Jamie Porter.

They need another 122 runs to win.

  9. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lancs 48-7 v Kent 261

    Pure carnage!

Wes Agar (3-12) and Nathan Gilchrist (4-15) have ripped apart Lancashire's batting line-up to put themselves completely in control.

Matt Parkinson then gets big turn and bounce with the final before tea.

Matthew Hurst and George Bailey make it to the break.

Can Lancs avoid the follow-on after tea? They're 213 behind with three wickets in hand.

  10. Postpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 128 & 44-0 v Essex 156 & 138 - Target: 167

Sam Cook into his fifth over and yet to strike yet following his five-wicket heroics yesterday.

He was opening the batting not so very long ago.

Sean Dickson clips a two and then takes two more off the next ball to move onto an untroubled 15 and take the score to 40-0. It's the highest partnership of the match.

Dickson then gets some fortune as a thick edge races to the boundary.

Where have all the pitch demons disappeared to?

  11. 'Kent have been brilliant with the ball'published at 15:55 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lancs 40-7 v Kent 261

    Phoebe Graham
Manchester Originals bowler on BBC Radio Lancashire

After what Lancashire would have deemed a good first half, they won't be enjoying this second half.

With this inexperienced middle order, it's a big job if the openers go early for Lancashire.

    The bowling has been outstanding.

Kent have been brilliant with the ball so far. They've challenged Lancashire from ball one.

Gilchrist alongside Agar have probably been the two pick of the bowlers.

  12. wicket

WICKET Hartley c Crawley b Gilchrist 0published at 15:49 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lancs 40-7 v Kent 261

It's getting better and better for Kent!

Tom Hartley tries to rein himself in but to his fourth ball he can hold back no longer.

The England spinner tries to fire it through point but only succeeds in nicking an outside edge to Zak Crawley at third slip.

Another excellent low catch for the Kent slip cordon.

    Dare we mention the follow-on?

  13. 'The pitch is playing pretty well'published at 15:46 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire 64-1 v Glamorgan 221 all out

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

It's been hard work but nothing more than we'd expect really given the conditions here.

The floodlights have been on all day, we've got a bit of shadow from the players out there on the field but they've continued to play during the day barring the late start.

The pitch is playing pretty well considering how long it's been in use now but there's definitely turn there.

  14. 'Can Porter and Cook repeat yesterday's performance?'published at 15:46 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 128 & 27-0 v Essex 156 & 138 - Target: 167

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

The question now is can Jamie Porter and Sam Cook repeat yesterday’s extraordinary performance.

Somerset need to make Essex turn to their other bowling options which they couldn’t do for long enough yesterday.

  15. Postpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 128 & 28-0 v Essex 156 & 138 - Target: 167

Somerset are rattling along here in their chase of a win inside two days.

Sam Cooks leaks four byes, and two balls later Matt Renshaw works him away for his third boundary to move on to 14.

    Somerset need 139 for victory.

  16. wicket

WICKET Balderson c Denly b Gilchrist 2published at 15:42 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lancs 38-6 v Kent 261

Things have calmed down a tad from the mayhem of four quick wickets, but there are still plenty of oohs and aahs from the Kent slip cordon.

George Balderson and Matthew Hurst are just trying to see things out and then regroup at tea.

    But now Balderson goes!

It's perfect line and length from Nathan Gilchrist which squares up Balderson and takes a healthy edge to Joe Denly at third slip.

Superb bowling and Gilchrist has three.

    Tom Hartley is in.

  17. Postpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 128 & 14-0 v Essex 156 & 138 - Target: 167

Jamie Porter, all but unplayable in that first innings, overpitches and Matt Renshaw pounces.

He drives straight back past the bowler through mid-on for his second boundary.

They need another 153 to win.

It's the second session of day two by the way.

  18. 'This has been quite the turnaround'published at 15:29 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lancs 36-5 v Kent 261

    Ben Watts
    BBC Radio Kent

I don't think at any point this season Kent will have considered themselves to be in a position of control really.

And yet these quick wickets are giving them the possibility of that.

This has been quite the turnaround.

  19. Somerset start their chasepublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 128 7-0 v Essex 156 & 138 - Somerset need 167 to win

Matt Renshaw gets the Somerset chase up and running with a two off Jamie Porter's fifth ball.

He rides the wave of confidence at Taunton and plays a lovely drive through the covers off Sam Cook.

    Good start.

  20. wicket

WICKET Bell c Finch b Gilchrist 5published at 15:23 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lancs 35-5 v Kent 261

    That's not a great shot!

George Bell pushes his hands at a wide delivery from Nathan Gilchrist and nicks it through to wicketkeeper Harry Finch.

It was not there to drive and it's a poor shot which digs Lancashire's hole even deeper.

Lancashire have lost four wickets for five runs.
