  1. 'Not a bad response from Kent'published at 14:26 British Summer Time 4 May

Lancs v Kent 261 all out

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

It's not a bad response from Kent because it could have unravelled pretty quickly.

They were 70-4 and 80-5 and 130-6. So they've managed to get from those positions up to a score on the board of 261.

They've got themselves a batting bonus point as well and they'll be grateful for Joey Evison's unbeaten 71.

He got some help from Grant Stewart a little bit from Wes Agar and a little bit from Nathan Gilchrist

But that's at lest allowed Kent to get something on the board in their first innings.

  2. 'Bamber should have his third wicket of the innings'published at 14:25 British Summer Time 4 May

    Middlesex v Leicestershire 121-4

    Richard Rae
    BBC Radio Leicester Sport

Ethan Bamber should have had his third wicket and a fifth wicket of the innings but Rehan Ahmed was put down at slip Stephen Eskinazi.

  3. wicket

WICKET Cox c Lammonby b Overton 27published at 14:20 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 128 v Essex 156 & 118-6

    BIG wicket.

After that drop in his previous over, Craig Overton roars his approval as he removes Jordan Cox for 27.

It's a horrible length for Cox who fences at a ball which moved a little and straightened up to take the edge.

Tom Lammonby at second slip dare not drop this one - and he pouches it safely.

Both set batters are out and Harry Duke joins Noah Thain.

  4. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 128 v Essex 156 & 116-5

    That should have been gone.

Jordan Cox (27) plays slightly away from his body and Craig Overton finds a thick outside edge.

It flies to Andy Umeed at third slip at a nice height, but somehow he grasses it.

How costly could that be? Somerset, you feel, need every chance to stick.

  5. wicket

KENT ALL OUT FOR 261published at 14:13 British Summer Time 4 May

    Parkinson c Hartley b Williams 3

Joey Evison flashes hard for four off the final ball of Tom Bailey's over and chooses not to rotate the strike.

But it doesn't pay off as Will Williams remove Matt Parkinson with the first ball of the next over, finding a thick outside edge which flies to Tom Hartley at fourth slip.

A third wicket for Williams to mop up Kent';s first innings and a third bowling point for the Red Rose.

  6. Postpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 128 v Essex 156 & 116-5

Jordan Cox takes a rare boundary off Josh Davey but the Scot then lets rip with another appeal.

He angles one into Cox's pad but he's moved outside the line. Maybe a tad high, too.

  7. 'A lovely wicket from Bailey'published at 14:10 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lancs v Kent 251-9

    Phoebe Graham
Manchester Originals bowler on BBC Radio Lancashire

A lovely wicket there from Tom Bailey.

He's just come wider of the crease and angled the ball in, gone a little wider of the stumps where Gilchrist was looking comfortable playing the ball off his stumps. He's pushed at and it's a great diving catch from Hurst on his right-hand side.

  8. Batting point for Kentpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lancs v Kent 255-9

Matt Parkinson edges one down to third man to get off the mark with a two and haul Kent over the 250 mark for their first batting point.

Will Williams' line then goes haywire as he strays down the legside for four more byes.

That seems to have happened a lot today.

  9. 'Amazing how often a break brings a wicket'published at 14:04 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 128 v Essex 156 & 110-5

    Annie Chave
    BBC Somerset

A fine catch from James Rew.

It's amazing how often a tea break or a lunch break brings a wicket.

Just takes away that concentration, makes the batsman have to think a little bit more for a while and possible not seeing the ball as well as before.

  10. 'Haines has been in terrific nick'published at 14:03 British Summer Time 4 May

    Derbyshire 248 v Sussex 76-1

    Dave Fletcher
    BBC Radio Derby Sport

Tom Haines has been in terrific nick.

He's played a couple of false shots - one which flew over the slips.

This is the way Tom Haines plays.

He's batted beautifully as he gets his 50. Nine fours and 38 balls to reach his 50. A really good knock.

    Very entertaining indeed.

It's a decent crowd in for a Saturday.

  11. wicket

WICKET Gilchrist c Hurst b Bailey 10published at 14:01 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lancs v Kent 248-9

The new ball does the trick as Tom Bailey collects his first wicket.

Nathan Gilchrist defends a delivery outside off stump which has a hint of movement back into the right-hander.

It takes the edge and Matthew Hurst takes a comfortable catch.

Kent need two more for a batting point.

  12. wicket

WICKET Critchley c Rew b Davey 21published at 13:56 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 128 v Essex 156 & 106-5

That's a big shot from Matt Critchley who nails a Josh Davey delivery for four ball.

    But next ball he's gone.

Davey gets a little extra bounce and has Critchley sparring. It nicks his outside edge and wicketkeeper James Rew makes a good diving catch low to his right.

That's a third wicket for Davey and an important one for Somerset. The lead is 134.

Noah Thain comes to the crease

  13. Postpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lancs v Kent 243-8

Tom Bailey is finding immediate swing with the new ball.

He prompts cries of catch from his third ball as Joey Evison looks to attack.

It takes an edge but runs low through the slips for four.

  14. 100 runs

100 up for Essexpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 128 v Essex 156 & 102-4

Matt Critchley plants a half-volley back past Craig Overton and it beats Tom Banton at mid-off and goes for our first four of the afternoon session.

It also brings up three figures for Essex and the lead goes to 130.

  15. Play resumes at Old Traffordpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lancs v Kent 239-8

Th new ball is due straight after lunch and is taken.

Tom Bailey gets first use of it to Nathan Gilchrist.

  16. New ball will be available to Lancashire after lunch'published at 13:47 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lunch: Lancs v Kent 239-8

    Phoebe Graham
Manchester Originals bowler on BBC Radio Lancashire

Unfortunately we didn't get to see another over from Nathan Lyon until potentially after lunch depending on whether Lancashire take the new ball or not.

They've now got the option to take the new ball.

Kent are 239-8 after 80 overs and we'll see how Lancashire play the attack after lunch.

  17. Play resumes at Tauntonpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 128 v Essex 156 & 97-4

Josh Davey's superb spell ended with figures of 2-3 from six overs this morning and he opens up the afternoon session.

Jordan Cox plays out five dots and then shimmies down the pitch to the final ball. His drive isn't as crisp as intended, but it's worth two

Craig Overton pulls off his sweater for his first bowl of the afternoon.

This could well be a pivotal session - the meat of the match.

  18. 'An eventful morning'published at 13:46 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lunch: Derbyshire 248 v Sussex 70-1

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

An eventful morning with the Derbyshire tail adding 57 and in total the last two wickets adding 83.

The unorthodox Blair Tickner with a first class best 47 lead the way with sound support from Jack Morley the on loan Lancashire spinner.

In reply Sussex lost Tom Clark comprehensively bowled in the third over, but Tom Haines has rattled along with a number of crunching extra cover drives to reach lunch just five short of a half century, having hit eight fours and faced just 35 deliveries.

  19. Lunchtime scoreboardpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 4 May

Glamorgan will be happy with their morning as they take lunch on 195-6.
