Summary

  1. Eng 118-4published at 26 overs

Talk of 300 plus feels a little silly right now. England need a rebuild. Alice Capsey and Amy Jones with work to do.

  2. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 25.5 overs

    Sciver-Brunt c Najiha b Aliya 31 (118-4)

Pakistan's outfielders may have been sloppy but Najiha has been superb with the gloves. Just a little tickle behind there and Sue Redfearn's finger went straight up. Najiha destroyed the stumps for good measure. Excellent keeping.

  3. Eng 117-3published at 25 overs

Nat Sciver-Brunt has been trying to push the tempo a tad for a while now, but has largely found fielders. Back-to-back boundaries off Nida Dar might be just what she needed to get her going. The first was a gimme, Dar dropping waaaayyyy too short. The second was a lovely stroke right between deep mid-wicket and long on. Good cricket, that.

  4. Eng 108-3published at 24 overs

I said last over that Pakistan were keeping it tight. They continue to do so and take a wicket. Life is good.

It was short and it was wide, but she won't care!

There was a little bit of movement but it was a good catch - a very good catch standing up from Najiha Alvi. Heather Knight knows she has hit it and she has got to go.

It breaks an important partnership, how many times have we seen Knight and Sciver-Brunt rescue England through that middle order?

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 23.2 overs

    Knight c Najiha b Aliya 29 (Eng 107-3)

Well, that had been coming, hadn't it? Dropped on 0. Dropped 18. Caught on 29. Najiha with the safe hands behind the stumps. Those either stick or they don't.

Sadly for Heather Knight it was the former.

  7. Eng 107-2published at 23 overs

Credit to Pakistan here, by the way. They are keeping it tight.

  8. Eng 101-2published at 22 overs

England firmly into those "middle overs" now. Couple of set batters, albeit Heather Knight has led a charmed life thus far. Time to pick up the pace soon, or is the pitch a bit trickier than we all think? What do you reckon?

England reach three figures. Alex Hartley thinks 300 is about right, and it is difficult to disagree. Will be fun to watch from here if they are to get there.

I would have thought England would be targeting that 300 mark, but they have been a little bit tentative.

I don't know whether it's the conditions out there. I think the slow bowlers of Pakistan have been hard to get away. We have seen a lot of extra cover being nailed time and time again.

I think England will be looking to up it a little bit.

  11. Eng 97-2published at 21 overs

Thanks Mike. Slow and steady thus far... time will tell if England will win the race.

  12. Eng 92-2published at 20 overs

Knight cashes in on her let-off, turning new bowler Aliya Riaz around the corner for four.

That's the eleventh four of England innings - five of which came in the seventh and eighth over.

Nida Dar was expensive in the T20s. She was probably Pakistan's worst bowler. When it comes to economy, for me, she was just a bit all over the place.

She did pick up three wickets in that last T20 but she went for 45. In the second one, she went for 33.

  14. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 19 overs

    Eng 86-2

    Dropped catch - and it's Umm-e-Hani again!

Heather Knight crashes Nida Dar's fourth ball towards mid-wicket and the Pakistan fielder can't hold onto the catch low down.

The England captain survives again, after being dropped on zero she gets a second life on 19.

  15. Eng 83-2published at 18 overs

Nat Sciver-Brunt picks up four, finding the gap in the covers to send Umm-e-Hani to the ropes.

The England batters then twice sweep out to the mid-wicket boundary rider, picking up a single each time.

She waited for it to be slightly straighter and nailed it through the covers! That was a lovely shot from the skipper.

Obviously Heather was a bit frustrated having to play the last couple balls on the back-foot, but this time she was on the front-foot through the extra cover.

  19. Eng 73-2published at 16 overs

Heather Knight has her first boundary from her 22nd ball faced, timing Umm-e-Hani beautifully through the covers.

I don't know if Umm-e-Hani has a Doosra in her, but it felt like it was either accidental or the Hawkeye was slightly wrong!
