It might have to be all Aliya Riaz from here. How much of the strike can she get?

  2. Pak 154-6published at 36 overs

    Need 90 from 84 balls

Aliya Riaz, unbeaten on 19, is joined in the middle by Najiha Alvi.

Najiha looks tentative as she pokes forward. It's a wicket-maiden for Sophie Ecclestone.

What a luxury it is for Heather Knight to be able to call upon Sophie Ecclestone. It's almost a reputation thing with her now.

  4. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 35.2 overs

    Fatima lbw b Ecclestone 5 (Pak 154-6)

    That may be the game.

Sophie Ecclestone, brought on with the game in the balance, delivers for her skipper.

The ball wasn't particularly special but it's good enough. England are into the bowlers/wicketkeeper.

  5. Pakistan reviewpublished at 19:10 British Summer Time 23 May 2024

And here's a review right away!

Sophie Ecclestone hits Fatima Sana on the pad right in front.

    This has to be out.

You'd think this partnership now is the one that will have to do it for Pakistan.

  7. Pak 154-5published at 35 overs

Big wicket that. 90 from 90 required. I'm going to hand over to Matt Henry who will take you through to an [England] / [Pakistan] win.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 35.3 overs

    Dar c Beaumont b Dean 26 (Pak 149-5)

Extremely pleasing for a skipper, that. Charlie Dean - bowler of the game's only maiden to date - is brought back into the attack and flights one. Dar gave it a good belt but the wind seemed to hold it up. If there is one England fielder you'd want stood with waiting hands, it would be Tammy Beaumont.

  9. Pak 149-4published at 34 overs

I really rate this stage of an ODI. 95 needed from 96. Sounds simple when you put it like that, right?

  10. 148-4published at 33.1 overs

Make that 96. A full toss and Nida Dar has been out there way too long to miss out on that. Remember Dar dismissed Ecclestone in the England innings, before patting her on the back as she departed. Ecclestone would LOVE to return the favour here.

Exactly 100 needed now. Heather Knight is playing her trump card - Sophie Ecclestone back into the attack.

  12. Pak 142-4published at 32.5 overs

Just a little width, a smidgen from Sarah Glenn. Aliya Riaz waits, waits some more, and then cuts it to the boundary. Top shot.

Sometimes simplicity says it best. I agree with Henry. It is ON.

This could be on for Pakistan.

  15. Pak 138-4published at 32 overs

Pakistan simply need to keep on keepin' on.

While the players take (presumably hot) drinks, let's all take a moment to reflect on the ice cream van's early departure, shall we? The saddest of sights in early May.

That might be my favourite shot of the day. A beautiful straight drive.

  17. Pak 137-4published at 31.1 overs

Now then. That is lovely way to start the over for Aliya Riaz. Overpitched just a tad from Lauren Bell and she gets bopped back over her head for a boundary.

  18. Pak 133-4published at 31 overs

Pakistan need 111 for victory. It would be their first against England in ODIs. 11 defeats and one wash-out. Can they? Yes. Will they? Hmmm, that's a toughie. Nida Dar will reckon so - she needs to bat long.

And...missing. Sue Redfearn gives a knowing smile. That must be a lovely feeling as an umpire. You're good Sue. Very good.
