Summary

  1. England reviewpublished at 30.1

Big shout from Sarah Glenn. Sue Redfearn said no straight away but Nida Dar will have to wait and see.

  2. Pak 129-4published at 30 overs

It's nippy in Derby today, but Aliya Riaz will feel a little warmer inside after that stroke. Yes, Bell's short ball sat up nicely, but Riaz swivelled beautifully and found the boundary. A decent over otherwise from Bell.

You don't do it on purpose but I do think there is an element of lowering your standards when you are playing against lesser teams. You don't do it on purpose, you aren't trying to do that, but it is just something that happens.

  4. Pak 125-4published at 29 overs

This wide thing is getting a little silly now. 25 in 29 overs. The top score in the game so far is Alice Capsey's 44. Has there ever been an ODI where wides has been more prolific than any batter?!

A few more smiles out there for England now. Tells you just how much they needed that breakthrough. A lot resting on Pakistan skipper Nida Dar here.

Lauren Bell has certainly warmed up!

That was a lovely length, just nipping away, and it was enough to just invite the drive from Muneeba.

It was nicely taken by Amy Jones, and it was a couple of miles an hour quicker, so it looks like she has warmed up as well!

    Muneeba c Jones b Bell 34 (Pak 117-4)

There are few finer sights for quick bowling fans than Lauren Bell bounding in. Glorious upright action and consistently asking the right questions. Muneeba did not have the answer, instead tickling behind to Jones. Having put down a couple already, Jones will feel a little relieved.

I think there is potentially a run out on the cards with Nida Dar, at any point, in any game. It is very chaotic and I would not like to be down at the other end trying to read her mind.

I certainly think we could have done more with the bat in this one, for sure, particularly in the powerplay.

  9. Pak 115-3published at 27 overs

England will be keen to break this partnership. It's slowly shifting from 'frustrating' to 'a little worrying'.

Cracking running from Muneeba in the previous over, by the way. She was quick off of the mark and very much needed to be with Charlie Dean the fielder. Dangerous person to sneak a single to. Gets away with it.

Plenty of short stuff from Kate Cross early in the over. The plan, presumably, is to purchase a wicket with a skyward miscue. That tells you all you need to know about this pitch. Slow. Very slow.

Kate Cross has just gone up to captain Heather Knight and she has just pulled this face and shook her head. It was almost as if to say: 'There is absolutely nothing coming out of this wicket and I'm doing the best I can'.

Heather just laughed back at her because she knows the pain. She feels it.

  12. 106-3published at 25 overs

It's hardly thrill a minute, but I sort of like what Pakistan are doing here. No one gave them a sniff, yet we've reached halfway and they need 138 runs for a famous victory. A big ask still, yes. But not an impossible dream.

  13. 104-3published at 24.1 overs

Muneeba boundary klaxon. She finally has one. It has taken 48 balls, and really ought to have been cut off.

  14. Pak 100-3published at 24 overs

Perhaps the old "hold a few back for the death" theory is a little dated. CricViz's Captaincy Grid suggests Cross to Muneeba is a contest that might bear fruit for England. Not yet, though.

Pakistan reach three figures with a wide. Very apt given England's wayward radar this innings.

Alex Hartley has just learnt that snakes can be found in England... "Do snakes exist in England? I have never seen one before. I mean, I have dated plenty!" she joked.

  16. Pak 95-3published at 23 overs

    Tidy from Glenn again.

Looks like Sophie Ecclestone is going to be replaced by Kate Cross. A case of keeping her for the death...unless Heather Knight is fuming about Ecclestone daring to concede a solitary boundary!

Winviz isn't ruling Pakistan out just yet!

If anyone thought this match was bumbling along, they ought to think again. Rapid reactions from Charlie Dean, who swoops and hits the stumps. Muneeba Ali scrambled back. Just.

Did my eyes just deceive me or did Sophie Ecclestone just serve up a full-bunger?! Dar puts it away nicely. That is the first boundary Ecclestone has conceded in seven overs... I think we can forgive her.

  19. Pak 87-3published at 21 overs

Thanks Mike, I've been primed and waiting for a while...England have delayed my re-introduction through sheer volume of wides. A little sloppy, really.

Heather Knight turns (see what I did there?!) to her third spinner - although Sarah Glenn should not really described as that.

Nice sweep shot from Nida Dar brings a boundary in an otherwise tidy over.

  20. Pak 81-3published at 20 overs

    Worm

Captain Nida Dar is next up for Pakistan, she receives a wide from Ecclestone - that brings the total up to 18 for the innings.

To take you through the next few overs, here's Sam Dalling.
