I'm sure there will be questions around the selection. There will need to be a bit of introspection before the next game.

Brooke Halliday looks handy here. A real selection box of deliveries, and England are struggling to get her away. 10 needed.

It pains me to say it as a New Zealand fan but the cricket displayed by England today has been phenomenal. The have put on a clinic.

  4. Eng 145-1published at 19 overs

After a flurry of lbw reviews at the front end of the over, Tammy Beaumont gets the reverse sweep out and finds the boundary.

    A dozen needed now.

Impact is waaaaayyyyyy outside the line. A question asked in hope rather than expectation.

The ball hits Tammy Beaumont's pads. Again. Anna Harris says 'no' this time. But Fran Jonas convinces Sophie Devine to go upstairs.

Tammy Beaumont is all smiles again. She knew that was doing too much. Way too much according to the tech - missing leg stump by plenty.

No bat involved. There is a snick but that is the toe of the bat hitting the turf.

It looked like it might be going down the leg side. It was a pretty immediate decision from Anna Harris though.

  10. Umpire reviewpublished at 18.2 overs

Fran Jonas appeals and Tammy Beaumont is given out. The batter reviews immediately.

She's the golden arm Brooke Halliday!

It is a much-needed wicket for New Zealand. Brooke Halliday just has the ability to break partnerships. I like that she's been going to the off-cutters and keeping this pair guessing.

And that is the end of Maia Bouchier. She smashes her 50th delivery within the vicinity of Suzie Bates' hands at short cover. That ball was travelling but Bates makes the catch look simple. Brooke Halliday has varied her pace well here, and gets rewarded.

Make that 21 required for victory.

Another pair of boundaries for Bouchier from that Fran Jonas over...even if the second was a little lucky. It is one of those days, though. You know the ones when even England's outside edges go for four.

If this was tournament cricket, England's net run rate would be taking a massive boost.

I'm hoping this is just a little bit of rustiness from New Zealand. They haven't played cricket since April so they are not game-hardened. Hopefully it is going to get better!

  16. Eng 125-0published at 16 overs

Brooke Halliday is the seventh bowler that Sophie Devine has turned to. This innings is only 16 overs old, remember.

Provided my eyes aren't deceiving me, Halliday bowls off of the wrong foot. There is only one other person I know who does that...me.

Bouchier biffs one down the ground and England take a quartet of singles. Victory is 32 runs away now. The end? Not far off.

  17. Eng 117-0published at 15 overs

Another double-digit over for England. 10 from Fran Jonas, including a deft little reverse lap from Beaumont to finish it off.

England are making New Zealand look a good few rungs down the order. It is effortless.

They are putting away the bad ball, and it isn't always easy to do that.

  19. Eng 107-0published at 14 overs

It is all happening at CLS. 17 from that Amelia Kerr over.

Both openers reach 50, while England's 100 is also up. By default, that means a century opening stand.

Heather Knight is pitch side, pads on and standing in the shade. Always difficult for the next batter in to properly relax, but Knight will surely be relatively chilled (notwithstanding the heat) today.

  20. 50 runs

50 for Bouchierpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 26 June

This time it is Bouchier celebrating. She reaches her half century - a 2nd in ODI cricket - from just 38 balls. First, she bludgeons a full toss over the long on boundary. A few balls later she lofts another over the rope - this time after a bounce or two - and there is more hugging.
