Jos Buttler was averaging 59.77 when he left the IPL a week ago. Whether it was because the pressures of captaincy had been eased or not, he seemed to find his batting groove again in India.

Here he has an ideal platform - one that England will want to take full advantage of.

Seales got through his action well and just induced that drive. Root will be frustrated as he will feel as though he could have struck that one.

Joe Root felt it was there for the drive but it just held its line and flew through to the keeper.

Sadly he won't reach England's highest ODI run-scorer today....

Ahhh. Just after we gave him all of that praise...

Joe Root chases one outside off stump from West Indies quick Jayden Seales and only manages to get a thin edge on his drive. West Indies very much needed that.

Joe Root is low risk in all placement. He is so rinse and repeat. He knows where he can capitalise and in which areas and rarely takes a risk.

Obviously it’s been said many times before, but it is just ridiculous how easy Joe Root makes batting look. It feels like he’s hardly broken a sweat here and has still got to 52 from 62 balls.

    Class. All class.

We had seen the ridiculous from Harry Brook in the previous over but this really is the sublime as the master in Joe Root follows his apprentice in easing the ball off his toes to the rope.

Harry Brook's first 13 scoring shots were singles. He had 13 off 19 balls. He then had 25 off 22.

We haven't seen a shot of anger in a while but Brook moved his feet well and knew exactly where he wanted to put it.

That sends a signal to West Indies, be ready.

He's a nice guy but Ebony is being very generous to Saqib Mahmood there...

Looking at England's batting line-up, there is genuine batting to number 11. They have got the ability in this longer form but West Indies are just keeping these two pegged back at the moment.

Here's Matt Henry to take you through the rest of the innings.

  19. Eng 157-2published at 24 overs

Given England's recent ODI form, it would be churlish to complain about this lull in the innings.

The scoreboard is ticking along, the run rate is still above six an over, and Joe Root and Harry Brook are building a partnership.

England are compiling nicely but it's not very explosive. It has been five overs since the last boundary.

As long as they can find a way to accelerate at some point, but they are just working it around at the moment.
