Justin Greaves, like Motie, is doing a good job of keeping England's batters quiet.

However, the highlight for West Indies so far has been the two catches to dismiss Jamie Smith and Ben Duckett. Here they are...

On the subject of yellow grips, I know several old squash pros who swear yellow grips are less slippy than other colours. Obviously words got out to Ben and Joe.

If only I could blame my ineptitude on a squash court on having the wrong colour grip...

A blinder of a catch really lifts the team and it's what you need when you are a little bit behind in the game.

Gudakesh Motie is now getting through these overs quickly. He is trying to keep things tight with subtle variations in pace, to keep that pressure on.

  5. Eng 145-2published at 21 overs

Gudakesh Motie has probably been West Indies' best bowler. If memory serves, he was a bit of a nuisance when the two sides met in the Caribbean at the end of 2024.

Root's doing that, 'he's got 3 off 8 balls, then I just looked up again and he's 39 off 46 without playing a shot' thing again. Stealth.

Ben Duckett looked a little bit tied down in the last few overs but he went for that one.

It almost stuck to Roston Chase's hand and he held it to his chest before celebrating. A marvellous catch!

It's a good job the West Indies have taken a couple of screamers. They otherwise haven't looked like taking wickets.

A stunner of a catch! Duckett was slashing that away and Roston Chase leapt up almost back on himself. Two excellent catches from the West Indies.

Another excellent catch by West Indies and Ben Duckett has to depart for 60 off 48 balls.

A leaping Roston Chase plucks the ball out of the sky at backward point. It's a lovely one-handed grab.

To return to our earlier discussion of colours, prompted by West Indies' shirt numbers, I'm quite enjoying the matching yellow bat handles boasted by Duckett and Root. I have a yellow grip option for my squash racket at home but I've never been bold enough to use it.

    Five singles added.

Closely following the game from the Maldives. Lovely people and plenty of cricket lovers here, but not much room to play! Buttler could reach the neighbouring island with one of his slogs, I reckon…

Joe Root is a master of ticking the score over in ODIs, especially through the middle overs. When it comes to strike rate off non-boundary balls, Root's is the best in ODIs in the last 10 years.

Root has a strike rate of 61, he is followed by Virat Kohli (60) and Mushfiqur Rahim (57).

It looks a good pitch with a very good outfield so there needs to be a good score on the board here.

West Indies should be gathering to talk about their wayward lines and lengths and a lack of consistency which they have struggled with so far.

It's a tidy over from Justin Greaves, conceding four singles, but despite West Indies slightly stemming the flow of runs, it's undoubtedly England who'll be the happier of the two sides at drinks.
