Jewel Andrew runs a single to get off the mark at the first time of asking and Shai Hope picks up another four with a nervy inside edge.

After 10 overs, West Indies are 58-3. England were 90-1 at the same stage.

A very soft dismissal. Carty just chipped a catch to mid-off and West Indies are already needing a miracle.

It's another tame wicket for West Indies as Keacy Carty chips a simple catch to Harry Brook. He'll be thoroughly enjoying his first outing as full-time captain.

Saqib Mahmood has another wicket. 18-year-old Jewel Andrew walks out for his first bat in international cricket.

Heart in mouth moment for Keacy Carty as the ball goes high up in the air.

Fortunately for West Indies, it lands safely in a gap, despite Saqib Mahmood's best dash across the outfield.

Jacob Bethell bowls three dot balls before Keacy Carty finishes the over with a four. Two bounces and over the rope.

He is running off immediately. It looks like a dislocation or something of the sort. I have never seen a bowler run straight off for treatment.

  11. WI 45-2published at 7.2 overs

Jamie Overton has just hot-footed it off the field.

Keacy Carty struck the ball back at the bowler and while he got a hand to it, he couldn't hold on. He looked down at his hand and ran.

Jacob Bethell will bowl the remainder of the over.

  12. WI 44-2published at 7 overs

    Target 401

West Indies are beginning to tick off a boundary every over.

Jamie Overton is being introduced into England's bowling attack and in the office, the question 'what's your favourite soup?' has created a heated discussion.

The downside of Brydon Carse's pace from an England point of view is that you only need a tiny hint of bat to send the ball flying away to the rope.

Shai Hope's first boundary is a slightly streaky slash. The second is a much crisper drive which races across the outfield.

    12 from the over.

I've noticed so far there's a tendency for West Indies batters to play straight bat shots to deliveries that England batters hit cross-bat. I wonder whether using the leg side helped England to be more aggressive in the powerplay.

  15. WI 26-2published at 5 overs

    Target 401

Keacy Carty gets his individual boundary tally off the mark. It's an effortless four, just helping the ball on its way through point. Quite a polite shot.

It's a bit of a scrappy over, with a wide and an overthrow alongside the four.

Will be interested to see who the fifth bowler for England is. Brook is going to have to get 10 plus overs out of Jacks, Bethell and Root.

In ODIs since the start of 2023, England bowlers average 35.5 in the first 10 overs while going at an economy rate of 5.6 runs per over.

Their average is the fourth-worst amongst full member nations after Zimbabwe, Ireland, and Pakistan while their economy rate is the worst.

Saqib Mahmood could be the answer to fix England's troubles.

He has done it in T20Is, while in ODIs, he is averaging close to 27 in this phase of the innings. He struggled in the ODI series against India earlier this year, so this wicket is a big boost for him.

England certainly have the pressure on here. However, worryingly the physio seems to be wrapping something around Carse's foot.
