Now a maiden comes from Matthew Forde to Phil Salt with the England opener looking cautious after the tumble of wickets at the other end.

It has been accurate stuff from the West Indies quicks.

Only once before has Liam Livingstone come out to bat earlier in an ODI than he has today. He opened against Sri Lanka at Durham in June 2021.

  3. Eng 18-3published at 6 overs

    Salt 9, Livingstone 2

Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone are going to have to do some rebuild here. It has been all West Indies.

  4. Not outpublished at 5.5 overs

Phil Salt has made his ground comfortably.

It's a good single in fairness.

  5. Umpire reviewpublished at 5.5 overs

    Not a run-out now, surely?

  6. Eng 14-3published at 5.2 overs

Liam Livingstone is already in the middle but for some reason the umpires are checking a perfectly clean catch.

I think they thought Chase had done 'a Mitchell Starc' from the ashes last year - dragged the ball along the ground after taking it - but it's fine.

    England are right in trouble.

Hard to be too censorious of Bethell there. A wide short, filthy ball that deserved the treatment. He got hold of it well but Chase got hold of it even better. Stunning grab.

    Bethell c Chase b Shepherd 0 (Eng 14-3)

Despite all of the drama, West Indies are flying! Romario Shepherd is brought on with Alzarri Joseph in the skipper's bad books.

He starts with a bad ball but Jacob Bethell cuts it in the air to backward point where Roston chase takes a flying catch.

Alzarri Joseph with a fiery short ball to dismiss Jordan Cox, clocking in at 147kph.

Alzarri progressively dropped shorter to Cox during the over while also upping his speed to bowl his fastest delivery of the day - he now has nine powerplay wickets in ODIs since the start of the 2023 England series, no full member bowler has more.

  10. Eng 14-2published at 5 overs

Alzarri's back from the dressing room but still chewing the ear of one of the sub fielders on the subs bench.

I don't think I have ever seen anything like this.

  11. Eng 14-2published at 4.1 overs

    This is all very strange.

It's still not clear what Alzarri Joseph is so angry about but as it stands there are only 10 West Indies players on the field. Everyone is looking around confused in the dressing room.

    Phil Salt drives for four...

  12. Eng 10-2published at 4 overs

    Salt 4, Bethell 0

Alzarri Joseph is still fuming to such an extent that he has marched up to the dressing room after that over.

It was a great ball to Jordan Cox but it's the second time the Englishman has been dismissed by a bouncer in a row. That's not ideal with a Test tour on the horizon.

Gorgeous ball from Joseph. Fast, short, straight and hostile, but that’s the second time Cox has got out to the short ball this series. The New Zealand bowlers will have taken note.

    Cox c Hope b A Joseph 1 (Eng 10-2)

    Your money is safe, James.

Jordan Cox has been done by an absolute snorter from Alzarri Joseph. Joseph has stomped, growled and moaned his way through this over and the result is to hurl down a 92mph bouncer than nearly takes Cox's gloves off.

Joseph is still grumbling and Cox slumps off.

If Jordan Cox scores 100 I will buy everyone in the party stand a rum punch.

  16. Eng 10-1published at 3 overs

    Salt 4, Cox 1

Jordan Cox is England's number three. He has managed scores of four and 17 in the series so far so is enough who could do with a few.

The right-hander gets off the mark in uncomfortable fashion as he plays across an inswinger and nicks to third man.

Late away shape and the perfect length have done for Jacks. The ball wasn’t quite full enough for the drive but after stroking a sumptuous boundary earlier in the over, Jacks was over eager to maintain the attacking momentum.

But Will Jacks tries to repeat his drive to the very next ball and nicks behind!

Seamer Matthew Forde is not quick but has just bounced a bit more than Jacks was expecting. It was enough to find a thin edge.

  19. Eng 9-0published at 2.2 overs

    Ah that's nice.

Will Jacks gets onto the front foot to drive a textbook boundary through the covers.

First impressions are that there is plenty of moisture in the pitch. The bowler's footmarks are very pronounced after just the one over.
