  1. Eng 151-5published at 37.2 overs

It's Phil Salt's turn to find the boundary now.

He goes back, gives himself room and thumps Roston Chase through backward point for four.

  2. Eng 147-5published at 37 overs

I nearly put the mockers on Dan Mousley there.

Gudakesh Motie gets the last ball of the over to slide on and the England left-hander is very nearly trapped plumb in front.

He just gets bat on it, though, and Motie is done. He finishes with 0-48 from his 10 overs.

Dan Mousley is really getting into his work now and brings up the fifty partnership with a lovely sweep shot.

It's well behind square and the diving Roston Chase can't prevent the boundary.

The match has reached the stage where both sides are happy to move along at between four and five an over. England looking to take it deep and have a dart in the last 10 overs. WI happy to keep the run rate under control and trust that wickets will fall when the slog is on.

  5. 6 runs

    Eng 143-5published at 36 overs

    Oh hello!

Dan Mousley shows a bit more of what he's capable of by springing out of his crease and launching Roston Chase over long on for six.

    A super shot.

  6. Eng 135-5published at 35 overs

Good over from Gudakesh Motie as he keeps Dan Mousley tied down for four balls, bookended by singles for either England batter.

This is now Phil Salt's longest ODI in terms of balls faced. His previous longest was 93 balls. He scored 122 against the Netherlands that day in 2022.

It's been a very different knock today.

  7. Eng 132-5published at 34 overs

Just a short burst from Alzarri Joseph and it's back to the off-spin of Roston Chase.

England continue to tick with four singles from the over.

With five wickets down already, there may be a bit more of this than usual before they try to kick on late in the innings.

  8. Eng 128-5published at 33 overs

    Salt 60, Mousley 14

Nicely played by Dan Mousley as he gets down to take the ball from just outside off and sweep square, into the gap for a couple.

He follows that up with a superb reverse sweep that goes fine of backward point and races to the boundary.

Positive signs for the young left-hander and England.

  9. Eng 120-5published at 32 overs

Back to it after drinks and while Phil Salt has shown restraint but he has not gone completely into his shell as tries to get after a short ball from Alzarri Joseph.

He makes a decent connection but there are a couple of fielders sweeping on the leg side and they keep him to a single.

It's one of three from the over and, for all his earlier frustrations, Joseph has impressive figures of 1-18 from his seven overs.

How are we this poor? I’m sorry but after that Test performance in Pakistan and now this, (barring Livingstons miracle knock) I am becoming disillusioned. I got up every day at 5am for that Test series to watch mostly utter garbage and now I’m watching the apparent future stars of England’s ODI side lolly nothing balls into the opposition fielders hands and wander off. I think we’re in danger on being in an position of thinking we should just beat these teams, we should just beat Pakistan 3-0 away and beat this Windies team with an experimental young side, but actually you have to go out and execute. In conclusion all we appear to be doing is consistently losing matches across all formats.

  11. drinks break

    Eng 117-5published at 31 overs

Gudakesh Motie races through another over, England continue to be extremely watchful against the left-arm spinner and are content to take five from it.

    Time for drinks.

I’ve rewatched that Curran dismissal three times now and I’m not sure how he didn’t belt a full, non-turning ball for six. Just poor execution after another good contribution. There are plenty of things wrong with the balance of the top order, but Sam Curran in this series hasn’t been one of them.

Today is the 71st time Phil Salt has passed 50 in his professional career - only once before has he done so after facing more balls than his 79 today (101 balls v Surrey in the County Championship, Jun 2023).

  14. Eng 112-5published at 30 overs

Good return for Alzarri Joseph and he'll think it should have included the key wicket of Phil Salt.

But that chance went down which will do little to improve his mood.

  15. dropped catch

Salt dropped on 52published at 29.3 overs

    Eng 109-5

Nearly a wicket in his first over back for Alzarri Joseph!

He hits the pitch hard, finds a hint of extra bounce and that surprises Phil Salt.

The ball flies off a thick outside edge and just carries to backward point, but goes through the hands of Roston Chase.

A let off for the England opener.

  16. Eng 109-5published at 29 overs

    Salt 51, Mousley 5

Five singles from the over and Shai Hope decides it's time to go back to his fast bowlers.

Here comes Alzarri Joseph, who has had an interesting time of it so far in this match.

A fine, battling half-century from Salt. These are not words we’re accustomed to associating with Salt, but he’s adapted to the conditions and match situation really well today.

Phil Salt goes to his fifth ODI half-century - and it's been a hugely valuable one for England.

A single gets him there from 79 balls. It's been a much more restrained knock than we're used to seeing from him but it's had to be in the circumstances.

  19. Eng 104-5published at 28 overs

Big turn from Roston Chase to rip one past Dan Mousley's edge.

But when he drops short later in the over, Phil Salt pounces to crash the ball away through backward point for four.

That brings up the 100 for Liam Livingstone's side.

  20. Eng 98-5published at 27 overs

Calm, sensible cricket from the England pair as they work four singles from Gudakesh Motie's over.

The tourists were beginning to accelerate with Phil Salt and Sam Curran but it'll be back to accumulating for a little while now, you'd think.
